Been detailing their WIP over the last few weeks in this thread in the Ultramarines B&C forum. Army is now complete, just 19 days after the last model was assembled and primed blue. Pretty stoked about it,

Looks a great band of smurfs. I'd of been tempted to give them some extra colour on shoulders but that's just me.

May papa guard against the traitor war master gargamel.

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all.

You love the T-Rex. Its both a hero and a Villain in the first two movies. It is the "king" of dinosaurs. Its the best. You love your T-rex.
Then comes along the frakking Spinosaurus who kills the T-rex, and the movie says "LOVE THIS NOW! HE IS BETTER" But...in your heart, you love the T-rex, who shouldn't have lost to no stupid Spinosaurus. So you hate the movie. And refuse to love the Spinosaurus because it is a hamfisted attempt at taking what you loved, making it TREX +++ and trying to sell you it.

Added a few more to the pile. Captain was already painted, I just decided to switch the head to a terminator head.

I know there's a Magnus player at my shop, took some preliminary steps. I figure Guilliman doesn't need help, but he won't turn it down

finished the Chaplain and added a bit of bling to the army. There's no rules for the Sagittarum Guard in 8th ed as far as I know, hopefully FW comes out with some rules for them beyond 30K, but they are awesome models and I just had to do a squad of them, even if I have to counts-as regular Custodes. Frustratingly, the regular Custodes squads are out of stock everywhere, but I got a unit of the terminators and also Valoris in the meantime. All were great fun to paint, airbrushed Vallejo Metal Color, edged in silver then given a dark brown oil wash to pick out the details and darken them down. I debated leaving the lion pelt off valoris and cutting down the feather plume on the shoulderplate, but decided in the end to do them both as they add a lot of frill to the character. I decided to keep the halberds silver instead of the turquoise to keep the attention on the models themselves, I didn't want a splash of color off to one side

Good work!

Your colours work nicely together and I like the muted light blue of your Ultramarines. Good and not too-in-your-face weathering on your vehicles as well!

Indeed the only thing to perhaps develop in the future is to use a slightly larger variety of colours on your models. For example for these latest models, the red same red is used on all of the reds, even the hair. Perhaps some of the parts could be a wholly different colour/a different red?

I may go back and highlight the plumes a bit more. Looking at the pics, I'm more concerned with deepening the shadows on the skirts and evening out some of the pooling on the leader's skirt. Red is such an in-your-face color that I waned to keep it muted so it accents the gold instead of competing with it.

You're not wrong, it is the same colors repeated, but it was a conscious choice. Most of my painting nowadays is a compromise of both paint look and paint time and my chosen painting techniques are developed towards that end. I'm more excited to get figures done to a high tabletop than to spend the extra time taking them to showcase level. I have a very large collection of figs for many, many different games and am trying to blow out projects in my limited attention span instead of my traditional method of finishing half a project then moving on to the shiny new hotness after a couple weeks

It is astonishing how much difference the MK7 helmets make on Primaris.
Really nice army, I especially like the green power swords. Also, the Chaplain looks great, reminds me of the old metal chaplains that were just as plain-yet-still-menazing looking. Custodes look great, too!
