Imagine I have both a daemon and a CSM detachments. The daemon Hellforge Artifact page says I can give one of those relics to a Deamon CHARACTER: does that include a daemon prince from the CSM detachment? Can I give him Skullreaver, for example (if he has Mark of Khorne, obviously)? I'd say yes, since everything that affects daemons (with the glaring exceptions of stratagems, but that was specified) can be applied to him, but I thought I should ask for a second opinion...

Speaking of stratagems, follow-up question, in case the answer to the first one is yes: what if my warlord is not from the daemon detachment? I know I can normally use stratagems to buy extra relics for a detachment that does not contain my warlord, but the recent FAQ limits daemon stratagems to units with the Daemon Faction keyword. However, I'd argue that the Rewards of Chaos stratagem does not affect a unit, it just gives access to an extra relic, and this follows the relic assignment rules. So, could I still give Skullreaver to a CSM daemon prince in this case?

Yes, you can give a relic to any DAEMON CHARACTER if your Warlord is a Chaos Daemons warlord.

The Special Snowflake FAQ about Stratagems doesn't apply here because the initial free relic given by the relics rule itself isn't a stratagem.

However, the extra relics Stratagem says "Artefacts that you include must be different and be given to different DAEMON CHARACTERS.", thus the special snowflake FAQ kicks in and the extras can only be given to those with the DAEMON faction keyword.

No, because a CSM Daemon Prince cannot be a Chaos Daemons Warlord. Each book defines what a "Chaos Space Marine" and "Chaos Daemons" unit can be. A CSM Daemon Prince does not fit the criteria to be a "Chaos Daemons" warlord. You can give them a CSM artefact if you have a CSM warlord though, just as you can give him a CD relic if you have a CD warlord.

In this section you’ll find rules for Battle-forged armies that include Chaos Daemons
Detachments – that is, any Detachment which only includes units with both the CHAOS

CSM prince fulfills this criteria. This unit was not changed in the latest faq as far as I know.

Csm prince does not have the daemon faction, so does not fulfill that criteria.

He does not have the Faction Keyword DAEMON, only the normal keyword DAEMON.

No, it doesn't. It has the Daemon keyword, but NOT the Daemon FACTION keyword
