With all the FAQ and Chapter Approved changes, I thought I would try out a list that is heavy on tanks and infantry squads. I stripped out most extra stuff, just to focus on armor and grunts. All detachments Valhallan, organized into two battalions and a superheavy auxiliary detachment.

HQ:
-Yarrick (warlord),
-company commander with Pietrov's 45
-2 tank commanders with lascannons and HB sponsons Kurov's Aquila on one tank.
Troops: 6 infantry squads, 1 with mortar, 5 with plasma gun (was 2 points over)
Heavy Support: 2 Leman Russ Battle Tanks, HB sponsons
Super heavy: Baneblade with 2 heavy bolter/lascannon sponsons

I figured Yarrick can stay back near the tanks to provide re-rolling of ones to the Baneblade and command tanks, which can then order the regular Russes. Yarrick and the Baneblade (with Crush Them) are the counter-assault.

I was thinking about maybe dropping a russ to add some more screening infantry, plus astropath support. Or taking away the baneblade for some artillery, mortar squads, astropaths, and more infantry. I only have 5 Russ models to use.

Yarrick seems like a high price to pay for rerolls to one when you could make the baneblade catachan and take harker, but I get it if you want to stick to a valhallan theme. Also the company commander being the linchpin in morale I would recommend an ogryn bodyguard. I have always been happy with the results.

Yeah, I'm counting on being Valhallan to mitigate morale a little bit too. But the whole army would probably work better as Catachan, since you have to be Catachan to get the Harker buff, plus it would benefit all the blast weapons. However, I just can't bring myself to say my greatcoat and fur hat-wearing guys are Catachans lol.

Ive got some tanks I plan on making for Valhallans. I was going to make a leman russ with a punisher cannon and a leman russ a demolisher cannon with multimeltas. I figure valhallan keeps the bs up for the punisherand valhallan for the demolisher to take the fight to the enemy and be able to take some knocks doing it. So I think there are ways to utilize valhallan. I've yet to test these options out but the idea is each regiment caters to a different play style and battlefield purpose.
