With Dark Imperium and the current 8th lore saying that Primaris have yet to fall to Chaos, what might be the event that has them fall? My bet is that Cawl takes the remaining Primaris from the Lost and Fallen Legions to try to take Mars as his own. Causing Primaris to fight Primaris.

God I hope so. 40k desperately needs a turn from the goodie-goodie mary suefest that its been since gathering storm, with Magnus showing up every so often to shake his fist at guilliman and yell "YOU'LL PAY FOR THIS CAPTAIN PLANET!"

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

I don't think we need to rehash the Heresy with Primaris turning to Chaos. It's just retreading the same old themes again.

Although it might seem the Imperium is less dark with Guilliman running around, I don't see his resurrection as being a Mary Sue fest. The days of Matt Ward seem to be gone, and Guilliman seems to be portrayed with a lot more nuance and balance in the novels. He's returned to his 2nd edition roots, as being the balanced Primarch, the one that had talents in administration and actual empire building.

At the end of the day though I don't see how Guilliman really has an endgame or plan to save the Imperium at present. He just seems to dash around putting out fires. He might win battles but lose the war, if all his running around prevents him from enacting long lasting reform and improvements to the Imperium. Perhaps this might have been the Chaos gods' intent all along.

Based on the Dark Imperium book it seems as though the Primaris are a bit more close knit than the original legions. Captain Felix of the Ultramarines and Sergant Bjarni of the Wolfspear(Space Wolves Successor) we’re very close when they were in the Unnumbered Sons. These bonds are much stronger than the old Legion bonds. So strong that breaking them will be all the more devastating...

All of the Unnumbered Sons were originally recruits for their respective Chapters. Many of them were upset when they were used to reinforce Successor Chapters instead.

There are so many ways they can go with the Primaris for their eventual fall. They could even have them fall to Xenos instead... maybe?

I don't think they necessarily need to fall to Chaos to shake things up. I'd genuinely love to see the High Lords try to get some power back from Bobby G. The Minotaurs obviously weigh in behind them. Maybe some other Chapters like the Fists and their successors. A lot of the Primaris, even within these Chapters, take Bobby G's side. Chaos exploits the fractures and wins over a few Chapters.

Ironically, you could have a genuinely disbelieving and baffled Bobby G cast in the role of the new Horus.

I'd like some existing forces turning on them and driving them out. Then some survivors stay loyal, some renegade and some chaos.

I think the next big conflict is going to come from other returning primarchs. What happens when Russ returns and takes back full control of the SW? The Lion?

What if cloned Ferrus Manus returns and the Iron Hands leap at the chance to follow their leader while RG looks on him with suspicion? The IH and their successors won't stand by and let anyone feth with their primarch.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

I hope that the Guirlyman gets himself and the primaris in a civil war with the rest of the emperium, nu Imperium vs old imperium vs chaos

I think that if Primaris Marines were immune to Chaos and none of them ever turned that would be just a little too OP. I mean, Primaries are still fundamentally humans with all the foibles that entails.

If not turning directly to Chaos then some at least must turn renegade as I imagine there is a lot of resistance from the Space Marines to accept their obviously superior replacements. GW may have promised to keep Secondary Marines on store shelves but the Emperor holds no compunctions about wiping out entire armies of obsolete servants...

I mean, by all accounts, Guilliman is older than the "old" Imperium.

There were hints in the Dark Imperium when the Chief Ultramarines Librarian had to knock a Primaris Marine back to reality when he was tempted by Nurgle. It was a “You could be an immortal Plague Marine full of disease” offer. They aren’t immune it’s only a matter of time.

The primaris need to fall to chaos and they need to do so spectacularly if they want to have any hope of being anything other than "Mary Sue Marines." Better yet, why not make them renegades? Have them turn against the Imperium at large while still spurning chaos? Or maybe the just start muting. Hell, I'll take anything as long as it knocks these guys down a peg and makes them more human.

Keep in mind that primaris is also an upgrade. Regular marines can undergo the procedure and become primaris. In fact, thats what the primaris are. Regular marines from 10k ago that were upgraded. Its not a whole new thing its the same guys with a couple new bits.

Based on the books they were taken from the same recruitment stock. In Dark Imperium, Captain Felix was going to be handed over to the Ultramarines on his 13th Birthday when Cawl took him. Well before they started the process.

yea I've been waiting for something like this to emerge as well.

At this stage they just need to introduce the characters amongst the High Lords and the Adeptus Administratum that are antagonistic towards Roboute to set the wheels in motion!

He needs one of his brothers, I've been a fan of Ultras since 4th edition. Roboute is probably my second favorite of the Primarchs BECAUSE he was a world builder and not some OP engine of destruction. I'd like to see Dorn, Sangunius or Vulkan come back to join him in this brave new galaxy!
