Here's all the Necron units I own:
Immotekh the Stormlord
Overlord x2
Cryptek x2
Warriors x48
Immortals w/ tesla carbines x10
Immortals w/ gauss x10
Lychguard x5
Ghost ark
Annihilation Barge x2
Triarch Stalker
and one unopened box of canoptek wraiths

I'm still learning how to play and need some advice. I don't really like the idea of tailoring my list to the local meta but i will say that the people i play with most play: Primaris, Chaos Space Marines, Blood Angels, Orks, and Space Wolves. There's technically a tyranid player but he's usually not there at the shop.

Any advice?

Given that the new codex is coming in the next 6-8 weeks, it might be worth waiting until you see if anything of the stats, rules or points costs change. As it stands, I prefer Gauss on the Tomb Blades but YMMV.

Sadly looking at what you have. At the moment you are going to struggle against anyone running any vehicles or monstrous creatures.

You only currently have infantry and heavy infantry killing models except for the single triarch stalker which can hurt vehicles and monstrous creatures.

Unless you want to buy a ton of models now, you are better off waiting for the codex in all honestly.

That said you will be fine to to put gauss blasters on your tomb blades. Hold off on any other upgrade as you won't be sure what is useful when the codex comes out.

PS if you are playing now ask your group if you can have your ghost ark counts as a doomsday ark untill the codex comes out as that would make a second model you own that can handle vehicles and monstrous creatures.

Gauss was best in 7th and is best in 8th currently.

The new codex may change that; but you could magnetize them?

Yes, definetly magnetize them. Tomb blades are currently pretty good, although a bit overpriced, and they shouldn't get worse in the codex.

Tomb blades with gauss are good against marine lists and you should take them in units of 6-9 for them to be optimal. Start with 6 of them.

There has been some rumors in the Necron tactics thread about units and rules in the codex, but there's no way to confirm if they are true. If they are Wraiths might be a good investment.

As others mentioned the codex will most likely be out within 2 months so don't make any expensive investments during that time. So focusing on painting right now isn't a bad idea.
