It goes well with your Hasslefree guy.

I like the construction colors.

No clue as to what I'll do with my own space dwarfs.

I guess it would help if I got sent them in the first place...

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

I promised Grim I'd have some photos tonight. Low and behold, I actually did work on my Forge Fathers! I got one Brokkr done as a test figure and got the Mining Laser all painted up. Was that thing supposed to have a base?

I wanted the mining laser to look used and filthy. The pictures do not do it justice just how filthy I made it look. For one, I'd used the Typhus Corrosion on the tracks and undercarriage. That stuff has a muddy texture to it that totally doesn't show up in any of the pics I took. The mech I'd painted will receive similar weathering, but not to this degree. I'll keep that more under control. I figure the mech, since it has hands, it probably uses tools, so it gets less dinged and filthy than something like that laser. The heavy mech - if I can ever get it to stay on its base - will be more heavily weathered like this since it has drill arms.

The great thing about the laser is that it also doubles as a nice little piece of scenery.

So, here's my Brokkr stuff so far.

Something else I decided to work on though.... probably could stand to be censored a bit.

Yep, the infamous Wet Nurse! I actually finally painted the thing! I couldn't figure out how to paint it and I knew I could never give it a paintjob that was worthy of it. I finally settled on just making it look very fleshy. I wanted its face to look like a mask rather than an actual part of it, but that didn't turn out looking so good. Any suggestions?

Surprisingly, it's actually not that big of a monster. I'm unsure if I want to eventually base it along with its thralls or not. For now, I'll just let it roam freely.

That horrible thing is *way* smaller than I expected for some reason...

Galdarnit! Your forge fathers look just like I was imagining to paint mine... Our styles are a bit different and i'm sure i'll be using different colors... but.. yeah that's awful close. Oh well we can just call it shameless ripoffs then 'cause it looks good.

Looks good btw.

So, your guys are going to look like mine, but not like mine? Lol

I actually just completed another Brokkr this morning. I'll post him up tonight. There's a few changes I want to make still. I'm thinking I'll add a lighter color to their pants cuffs and I'll paint their shirts the same grey as their pants, since it looks to possibly be a single piece suit they're wearing under their mining gear. I also really want to replace their doofy looking pistols. I don't like those things at all. I think the Steel Warriors had pistol hands. Maybe I can steal theirs.

Despite the fact that I'm painting yellow, painting these scruffy space miners has been fun.

Yeah they've got pistols and steel warrior bits are cheap on eBay usually...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/WARPATH-BITS-FORGE-FATHERS-STEEL-WARRIORS-10x-TORSOS-/360707124233?pt=Games_US&hash=item53fbd1ec09
For instance.

5 pistol hands and 5 rifle arms. Also left hands with glove-radios? And bonus detonator handles too. Oh well the top half of steel warriors while you're at it but not as helpful for brokkrs.

I actually have a box of Steel Warriors I never really did anything with. Looks like I'll definitely be raiding them for extra bits. Hell, maybe I'll even paint some of them while I'm at it.

They aren't bad. I mean, if you like scifantasy anyway the chainmail and tabard bits just kind of make them look a little more archaic or whatever.

Dammit. I wanted to paint my space dwarfs like that. Ugh. Maybe I'll go with more of an orange base...

Kudos to you for having the gumption to tackle that Kingdom Death mini. I certainly haven't gotten around to mine yet.

No wait! Mine are to be orange! It comes out kind of yellow though... Lol I guess yellow/orange is just a good space dwarf color.

Hey, you snooze you lose, guys. Get painting!

How about another Brokkr?

I know, teeth and eyes still need work. I'll add a wash to the teeth, but I'm going to wait to do the eyes after I've sealed him.

I've had this guy done for a little while. Figured I'd show him off since I rarely have monsters in here.
Reaper Beholder:

I've started painting some more green Space Marines, like the Terminator and Master of Relics I'd done. First guy I made from various leftovers laying around.

His head and shoulders come from Puppetswar, the backpack, legs, spare ammo mags, and arms/minigun are from Anvil Industries, rifle on his back is from a Deadzone Zombie, equipment pouches and torso are GW. I wanted to give him a bolter, but for some reason, I couldn't find any that didn't already have hands molded onto them. So, I grabbed the nearest rifle laying around which just happened to be a Deadzone Zombie one. I actually kind of prefer it. It gives him a bit more character. He's also got a spare scope for it among his gear.

Black Ops Sergeant

This is a full Anvil Industries Black-Ops Exo Lord. This one comes from the combi-rifle set and is armed with a magnetized combi-plasma. I like how much more military looking the Anvil guys are. I've got another one from that set on the table right now, too.

one final shot with both new guys and the Termie I painted.

I did try converting the Brokkr pistols with bits from the FF Steel Warrior pistols. They look so much better now.

The exolord and half-marine half that look pretty sweet. I think the marine with the imported legs and fancy mini gun may be my favorite.

Brokkr looks solid and I also like the beholder. Looking forward to seeing your pistol conversions at work.

Mini gun guy is cool. So you just cobbled the dude together from various random pieces? Neat.

Yep, he's pretty much just built from the remains of other projects I abandoned partway through. I really like how the minigun guy turned out, too.

Kind of selling me on some of that Anvil stuff. I really like their little mini-tank things, remind me of SHIVs from x-com. How is the shipping to US?

I wish I just had more time to paint. I enjoy it, but by the time I get home from work, I just haven't got the time. I've got a whole pile of funk from the holidays waiting for me, but I want to get through some of my other stuff first.

I would, if it hadn't decided to snap in half while I was cleaning its excess flash off. I've got to work myself up to that one since it's going to need sculpting.

Okay, this update should make a certain Highlord happy. While I spent pretty much the entirety of MLK Day playing video games, I did do some hobby work. That German Jet Mecha Tamburlaine picked up for me in particular.

Ooh boy, this thing. Tons of flash on the metal bits, the cockpit was slightly misshapen and absolutely no instructions on where the pile of metal bits were supposed to go. Oh, and did I mention that this JET mech has an open cockpit? Yeah, a totally open cockpit. On a flying, jet powered mech. So, I made a canopy for it myself out of plasticard. I spent a chunk of last night repairing the legs, too. Resculpted the broken bits and tried to smooth things out. I also tried to fix the big mold slip seam on the right leg using liquid green stuff. Results were... okay. Painting to begin whenever I get around to it.

Looks pretty neat, how big is it?

To the tip of it's engine intake, it's just a little bit over 5" tall. Or, if you're metrically inclined, about 14cm or so.

So not as big as the big stompy but still a fair bit larger than a dreadnought. Cool.

I suppose this is an opportunity for Alpharius to drop a "Barzam's gonna Barzam." See, I've had this Reaper gladiator sitting on my table for a while and I just couldn't bring myself to actually work on him. Last night I not only worked on him, but totally finished him. I think that he turned out looking pretty damn good.

I think he'll fit in nicely with my other wacky space Romans.

He's a bit serious/proportioned compared to the rest but.. yeah he looks great. The red came out well, as did the choice of colors overall.

You should see the Gorilla Gangsters my Pulp Alley opponent is using, though I guess the emperor chimp may fit in better with them than vice versa...
