Deployment

IG split into to groups the first group in the ammo dump building contains two platoon squads the Command HQ a Platoon HQ and the Anti tank and anti personnel squad.

The second group contains the other platoon a special weapons squad and the hell hound.

Space marines place tactical squad in rubble pileacross from objective, dread and assualt squad start in ruins near objective. Vindicator starts behind a building.  Scouts infiltrate to inside the objectve building and to the flank of the ammo dump building in some rubble.

IG Turn 1:
Special Weapon Squad moves into objective building and kill a couple assualt marines with massed heavy bolter.

SM Turn 1:
Assualt Marines and Librarian jump to behind objective.  Scouts in objective move up a couple floors.   Tactical squad lascannon stuns the hellhound.  The other squad of Sniper scouts kills a couple IG in the Command HQ. Whirlwind drops template on anti tank squad and breaks them resulting in a 2" fall back move.

IG turn 2:
The IG special weapon squad moves into the middle of the objective and unleashes two flamers and a demo charge on my assualt squad.  The flamer kills one the demo charge deviates 5" sparing the rest of the squad. Two other squads move up toward the center building.  Other shooting killed a couple scouts in the scout squad in the middle of the board.  The HQ heavy firepower manages to take out the other scout squad with massed heavy bolter fire.

SM Turn 2:
Beginning of the end for IG.  The assualt squad jumps to the middle of the guard lines.  Dread moves up to take out the special weapin squad.  Whirlwind takes another shot at the  missile launchers and a Platoon HQ on the roof of the tank factory killing a couple.  The assualt squad opens  up on aplatoon squad just outside the objective  killing a couple.  Finally the Librarian plays Fear and is able ot affect every guard infantry squad.  More than half runaway but none run very far (1/2 fall back since everyone is in ruins.  Finally the assualt squad charges the platoon it shot at and the special weapons squad both of which broke due to Fear.  The special weapons squad fails LD test and a few more guardsmen go down in the other squad but amazigly they stay to fight another round.

IG Turn 3:
Only one Squad manages to get off the table the majority rally.  Their shooting is ineffective withthe exception of the hellhound which kills a tactical marine.  In assualt the Librarian and assualt squad finish off the guard squad and consolidate toward the command squads.

SM Turn 3:
Assualt squad moves in closer to the bulk of the runnning IG squads.  Tactical marine lascannon destroys the hell hound.  Definitely not looking good for the IG.  Assualt squad manages to flame a couple guardsmen in a platoon squad out of cover with the intention of charging.  Librarian uses fear again once again breaking the majority of the IG squads.  Unfortunately, the squad the assualt squad shot at breaks and runs 5" so no charging.

IG Turn 4:
Some squads start to make it to the table edge.  Basically the entire IG left flank near the Hellhound runs off the table.  The IG right flank is able to recover a couple of squads but shooting is ineffective since most heavies cannot shoot.

SM Turn 4:
I begin to move the bulk of my army to the objective. Whirlwind continues to pound his fire base.   Assault squad moves to take out some HQ units and flames two Hvy bolter bases and a platoon HQ.  One last fear causes a couple more squads to run off the table, and assualt kills the remainder of the anti personnel squad.

We called the game there.  I lost a scout squad and with the 25% VP rule everything else was full up.  He had a couple small squads left on the board.  In a couple more turns they would have been swept away.

Fear is pretty powerful in the closse quarters fight, especially with low Ld troops like guard.  It seemed overly abusive and pretty much won the game alone.  I dont think I will use it again unless I feel like I am getting abused.

I was really looking forward to using the Vindicator but it didn't get a single shot.  Lack of firelanes and lots of heavies made it difficult.  Whirlwind put some smack down and was never even close to being targetted... not bad.

Scouts seemed like they would dominate the game but on such a small board it was just about impossible ot get a good position with long range LOS.  I  am going to have to revisit that part of the list.

Medicae Facility in  the objective I think was a good move but I never really got to use it except to save one scout.

Overall the CoD rules were pretty interesting.  It is defintely a different game.  I have to get all my terrain up to speed.  I want to try an omega level game next time.  We did run into an interesting situation with fall back moves which I guess I will post in YMDC

Hope you enjoyed, sorry no pictures, I usually take a few but I forgot my camera today.

Iorek: "Snoogums, you're right. Your arguments are irrelevant, and they sure as heck aren't going away."

To the marine, be glad the guard didn't have 3 basis just creating massive death like your whirlwind lol. Yeah tanks that need LOS IMO won't be AS effective as in normal games, so add another whirlwind lol. On another note, want a challenge, play black templars, no whirlwinds, no librarian, no scouts. Just an idea, I know you will have some serious disadvantages with a list like this (no fear power, no death from hiding behind a building) , drop pods maybe.... Speeders if you can navigate the streets, I do like the idea of the assault troops. Nice report, me and my group are still building the buildings, I think 5 or 6 are assembled, probably another 6 to go, then the painting....Cries.... Back on point, nice work.

Yeah I got the min together for a gamma mission and I haven't gottemn close to painting other than priming one building. 3 Bassies could definitely be a problem but the scouts could concievably help with that so long as they are infiltrating. Sewer rats could also help against that. I dont know much about the specifics of BT's but the faster movement and good assualt capability could help on the small table to close fast. Ome or two drop pods could make a big difference and you dont have to expend a strat to use them.
