Hi,
Trying to figure a list for semi-competitive play. Not really a fan of the Chaos soup, and I wanted to make use of the minis I had and to have a large variety of options.
I have several options that I need to decide on, most specifically on the Death Guard half of the list, as I think the Daemon one is something I really want to play.
Another option would be to exchange the plague burst crawlers for Foetid Bloat drones, or to get rid of the poxwalkers + cultists + Typhus for an outrider or Spearhead detachment loaded with either Bloat Drones or Crawlers. I think this options would be more effective, if a little to much spammy to my taste, and it would cost me 2 precious CPs.

The bloat drones will always beat out the crawlers in matched play, from experience.
Definitely don't double down on the armor, keep the infantry. You need board control in competitive play. Sitting back to shoot your enemy to death doesn't work anymore. You will lose on victory points every time.
You're probably going to do this anyway, but if you ball up your poxwalkers and cultists you can use the stratagem that gives you more poxwalkers. Additionally, you can cast Miasma of Pestilence on the walkers to make them harder to hit.
The only other suggestion I have is to get warp time in your army, even if it requires a patrol with Ahriman and some cultists. It's essential with such a slow army to get in there before you get shot to death.
If you found a way to slip Magnus in this for a Chaos soup, you would be pretty strong competitively. At least until he gets the nerf bat.

Personnal beliefs forbid any use of Soup... moreso with Tzeentch.
The goal is to keep a monotheist army
Also : no room for an additionnal detachement, unless I loose the daemon one, which is not really the goal here.
Also, I know I will be shot to death, I can deepstrike one unit of daemons to provide an immediate menace my opponent needs to assess.
For objective play, I find the nurglings very strong as they provide a difficult choice for the opponent : either shoot them with multiwound weapons, wasting powerful shot on T2 cannon fodder, or shoot a large volume of light weapons, which have to go through 12 HP of 5++/5+++ save.
To be honest my base strategy would be to deepstrike the large unit of plage drone in front of the opponent. The unit is large enough that it provides a credible threat and a very large footprint. The plague bearers and poxwalkers walk up the table and grab disputed objectives on the way, and the nurglings ensure table control early in the game. The armor (be it Bloatdrones or Crawlers) is there for early clear of chaf to fuel Epidemius tally.
Mostly, the list will concentrate on clearing the screening units in priority, enduring the heavy hitters that won't have any juicy target, and disputting board control with a large number of objective secured units.
Both the cultists and the plaguebearers can fuel the poxwalker unit, and the plaguebearers are surprisingly fast for infantery (move 7", d6+1 advance, which is around 11,5" on average). The psychic phase, while not great, is pretty decent with 4 psykers and 5 casts/deny, and the only major issue would be an aeronef spam as it would be difficult to handle efficiently.

You can stay mono if you use the Chaos SM Stratagem, but it costs 1 CP... Easy Warp Time. Would work well on daemon prince or a morty.

Another way for me to get access to warp time would be to replace the 2nd poxbringer in the supreme command with a SMC sorceror... making the Detachment a chaos one instead of a nurgle daemon one
