Folks,

I’m reading one of the alien Codexes and it says that that a unit of ‘Boyz’ costs 6 points per model, so 10 models costs 60 points. However I can replace one of the models with a boss Knob. So.....I assume that is 9*6 + 17 (for the boss know) = 71 points.

Is that right?

Sorry if it seems such an obvious question, but the way the rules are written you could interpret that you can have the knob for the price of a standard unit.....so that would be 9 Boyz + 1 boss knob for 60 points....

To me the 71points seems fairer. I just want to be sure though. I’m easily confused in my old age.

Boss Nob costs the same as a Boy. With the sole exception of Wolf Guard Pack Leader in Terminator Armour, "sergeants" cost the same as a basic trooper.

A "Boss Nob" is not a "Nob". I know it seems silly that a "better" model costs the same points as a "worse" model, but it keeps it simple because all models have the same base cost.

Nope it's still 6 points for the boss nob, because otherwise it would say you can upgrade a boy to a nob for x. It's like the space marine Sargent, he is better then normal marines, but cost the same just limited to one.

To many unpainted models to count.

I think the only other exception to that a unit leader costs more than the base model in a unit are the Rubric Marines and the Scarab Occult Terminators. Other than those the “sergeant” of a unit costs the same as the base model.

Admech: Lords of Jupiter
Custodes: Shadowkeepers
Astra Militarum: Jupiter pdf
Inquisition: Ordo Chronos
Tryanids: Hive Fleet Kraken
CSM: The Purge
Daemons: Garden of Nurgle

Cogito Ergo Sum

It is better to remain silent and be thought of the fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt.

Are you sure about that? I am looking at the codex and can't see anything that suggests this.

Rubric Marines and Scarab Occult Terminators both only have a single points cost, and Aspiring Sorcerers and Scarab Occult Sorcerers do not have a unique points cost.
