I've dug out my old army and I already have a falcon. I hear they aren't too hot anymore, but I was wondering if I should get a wave serpant or a fire prisms?

Not a rules question, so I am moving the thread to 40K Tactics.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Prisms are good, but if you only have 1, I'd go with a Serpent instead.
Prisms really need to be brought in pairs to take advantage of the Linked Fire Stratagem.

Fire prisms are not bad, decent firepower for the cost and can't be tied up in melee.

I wouldn't be suprised to see many used in competitive lists after the DReapers nerf.

Good unit in the shadow of reapers. I'd take 3 for good use of the stratagem, alaitoc tactics obviously.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

If you can run a pair then they are pretty good. Firing twice with their main gun and rerolls to hit and to wound for both tanks for just 1CP is good provided you have targets that merit the investment.

They work well in Alaitoc armies as their long range synergises well with imposing a -1 to hit on the enemy from long range. They are also decent in an Iyanden army so their profile does not degrade until they are nearly destroyed.

I stand between the darkness and the light. Between the candle and the star.
