Playing my second game of 8th tomorrow. Trying to work out a list, and this is what I have. I've really enjoyed Bjorn, and am looking to incorporate my Wulfen and fliers as I've not used them yet. Not real sure about it, so I'm open to critique. I see WG Bikers are popular, but I don't have any unfortunately. My primary opponents are Necrons.

Hi, your list should be ok. As you said bikers are popular but they're not a must have, razorbacks are quite effective as well for the same role.

I think you may suffer from having only a few units, maybe a couple of lone cyberwolves could help. I'd recommend stormbolters on the razorbacks, for only 4pts they provide 4/8 more shots. If you want to shave some points bring 5 man squads of grey hunters.

Overall I like the list

Shaving points isn't really an issue, but low model count always is. I figure the best strategy is to just hit them as hard and fast as possible.

The list worked pretty well, I destroyed much of his army. I took 6 casualties and lost only one razorback after two rounds of concentrated fire from the Necrons.

We ran the Relic mission, and unfortunately a Destroyer made off with the relic. The last shot was my Stormwolf annihilating said destroyer, yet his models were closer to the relic gaining him a victory.

I think full GH squads would have been better for this mission type, as there were no other objectives to capture. It was a good battle, Necrons can withstand an incredible amount of brutality and still survive. Wulfen and Bjorn are just amazing.

I play against necron a lot myself. They struggle to take down vehicles atm, but that will presumably change woth their upcoming codex.

The bikers are fun, especially woth bjorn.
Bjorn is super duper good.
Wulfen are murdering machines. Try no axes and all shields and hammers.... both are excellent setups...
Grey Hunters in 5 man squads woth razorbacks or just use ten man, if they are guarding the backline / footslogging. Primaris Marines also make a fine back line.
Flyers are fun, but ugly and overcosted. You could have 4x squads of Lascanon and plasma canon grey hunters instead.... Dakka Dakka!
Good luck against the crons...

One other annoying tip: use wolf scout sniper rifles (or a vindicator assasin) to drop the crypteks then plink shots at C’tan shards the rest of the game! Necrons hate when you kill crypteks right off the bat...

I've found Bjorn just shreds anything. He wiped out his wraiths so badly, he didn't even bring them again. Tore up his Stalker in one go too. Insane.

I'll keep that assassin tip in mind. So far he's not used crypteks or C'tan shards. I'm sure it's only a matter of time. I'm going to be acquiring more Wulfen, another dred, and Murderfang. As goofy as he is, I think a Triumvirate of Dreads will be smashy. After that I'm thinking bikes and drop pods. He didn't care for my teleporting WGT. I think a pod army would be good to get me in his face more quickly, though so far SW are pretty resilient against their weapons.

Anymore tips vs Necrons are greatly appreciated. My other buddy was just gifted a Cron army too. Filthy Xenos.

Shy of a nightbringer (clan shard) nothing he has can take bjorn in combat... he shouldn’t have expected wraiths to do it. They are good, but not to counter a unit like him. They do best sneaking around and ghosting through things to fine those elite squishy squads.

It sounds like they are the ones who need the advice. Next you are gonna tell me they aren’t screening with scarab swarms!

Here’s my real advice. A really good necron player won’t beat you by tabling you or even by directly confronting your units at all. Their real strength is deceptive movement altering abilities and the ability to hold objectives like crazy. If they play to the cards / objectives and use their tanky (but not so Killy) units just to draw the game out / make you move in the wrong direction / f up your deployment by using deceived to completely change their layout right afterwards / etc. they can be a problem. If he is going to try to kill you, it’s unlikely... we will see how strong their codex is soon though. Likely they will become much scarier. Fortunately for wolves, we play ok for an index list atm. We are not top of the stack in tourneys, but CAN make a list that can do just about whatever...

Yeah, that was a quick lesson learned about the wraiths. This second game he did much better, and I had a hard time as while I definitely chewed through him, it was more often than not, not enough to wipe units out. He super tarpitted me and used his mobility to win. I'm definitely going to have to figure out how to hit him harder, sooner.

I'm very pleased with how our Wolves play this edition. They really feel like they should. I can't wait to see what our codex does for us. I think we will definitely be competitive.
