My brother and I are in disagreement over the Ogryn Slab Shield. Accord to the rule, the Slad shield grants a +2 to any save roll.
I interpret this to mean that the +2 also applies to both armor and invulnerable saves. My justification is that the rule says it effects any save rolls.
My Brother interprets the rule to mean that it only applies to armor. His justification is that modifications like this only effect armor saves since in the rules in the big book says that units roll from their save characteristic unless their invulnerable save is better.

In simple terms, I am saying the +2 effects all saves (armor and invulnerable), while my brother says it only effects armor saves.

If it says any save then it means any save. Ogryn normally don't have an invulnerable save, so its usually not an issue.

If however they are granted a 5+ invulnerable save through the use of the Adeptus Custodes banner, they now have a 3+ invulnerable save.


I dont think there is anything that grants Astra militarum a 4+ invulnerable but I could be wrong.

It mainly has to do with the death mask of Ollanius Pius, as it gives a 4+ invul

Slab Shield applies to all saves. There is no such thing as an "armour" save any more, only Save and Invulnerable Save. Invulnerable saves differ from normal saves in only two ways, they can't ever suffer negative modifiers from the AP of a weapon and they don't benefit from the bonus from cover.

In all other respects Invulnerable Saves and Saves act the same, which includes non-cover positive modifiers.
