Indiana.

Hello all, I'm looking for some help starting my first list. Craftworlds are my army of choice, and I'm planning on grabbing the Start Collecting box at my local GW soon. So, the list will start with everything in that box. generally, what else should I grab to start with? I've been told 1000 point is a well enough points to launch off of.

I'm excited to start!

U can't go wrong with the start collecting box.

i would suggest picking up another Fire prism.
They work much better as a pair.

You should also pick up some Troops (scouts, dire avengers or guardians) so you can field a Battalion for + 3 cp. Eldar Command points are very helpful

I assume he has the new start collecting box which has wraith constructs and warwalker.

Do you have the codex? You will want to look at the type of Craftworld you want to play as that will guide your construction. To get command points you may want to start looking at Battalion options. Guardians, Rangers or Dire Avengers fill these slots. If you opt for Guardians you will have a good base for Ulthwe and the wraith constructs really do well with this trait (and the Farseer is a natural choice).
You could always not use the Battalion and make the army up with different detachments. The box already has 2 Heavy Support so one more and you have a Spearhead.

My choice, if you were slowly building to 1000pts would be to buy a box of Guardians and a Wave Serpent. You now have a Patrol as a legal force.

HQ Farseer 100
10 Guardians, brightlance platform 105
5 wraithguard with D-scythes 225
Wave Serpent, twin shuriken cannon, shuriken cannon 134
wraithlord, sword, 2 flamers 131
Warwalker, 2 shuriken cannons 70

the warwalker could be fitted with heavier weapons, but as you expand you'll find that having a few of them with shuriken cannons coming off a flank will be better. You could add a brightlance to the wraithlord for more AT punch, but it doesn't gel with him wanting to get close and tear things up.

I do have a codex, yes, I just haven't played yet and wanted a more professional opinion. Thanks for the help, I'll give this a shot!

Do either of you happen to know what I could do in the same situation with Tau? I.e., getting the start collecting box and expanding it to about 1000 points?
