So the idea here is pretty straightforward. The cadian spearhead gives all the Leman Russ tanks objective secured. There is a large amount of armor saturation and a large amount of Dakka. The Leman Russ tanks won’t advance much, being cadians and all, they shouldn’t. The army isn’t close combat intensive, so the goal is more to gunline and hold the middle of the board. The bikes, iron priest, and Razorback Grey hunters will all press to the middle of the board with bjorn making a Dakka bubble that obliterates infantry. The Leman Russ tanks really just want to maintain range to split fire heavy holders at infantry, and targeting the double tapping, re/rolling hit amount, tank ordered inane Leman Russ battle canons at whatever needs to die. The army does lack really serious anti tank, as there much over strength 8, but honestly battle canons can output enough for all but the heaviest of targets. If I find them to be inadequate, I may mix it up, but for now, this is how I’d like to test things. The third Grey hunter pack without transport will generally just camp home objectives, but they can be deployed strategically to prevent a flank / alpha strike on the russes to some extent... I’ve not run any true Mech heavy armies in 8th, and am wondering if this seems strong to you guys. Any advice is, as always more than welcome!

If they russes stay backline I'd consider changing 1 bolter into a lascannon on each tank. Since you have to take a HB, it's only additional 12 points for the lascannon, just my 2 cents

I don't like the iron priest in this list, he's supposed to advanced with bikers and a couple of tanks, I don't think he worths the points. A wolf lord on thunderwolf and the relic sword is only 15 points more expensive and an absolute beast that can also give that nice re-roll of 1s to the assault cannons and the plasma guns.

Bjorn can babysit the russes.

I’d prefer more lascanons, but any idea where I should remove the extra points?

The iron priest advances and heals bjorn as he tends to start taking a lot of fire sooner or later. Also, he can heal the razorbacks, should they get targeted early on. He could be replaced with a wolf lord though. That’d give more melee punch, but serves very little purpose if he doesn’t advance into combat. The iron priest can serve a purpose healing no matter what. Tough call.

Also... Same question as with the lascanons. Where to remove points for the wolf lord? Thunderwolf lord is 100 points without weapons. Relic blade and storm shield makes him cost a pretty penny...

Looking at the list, the only place you are going to be able to drop points is by dropping the footslogging GH unit and pick up 3x Lascannons and a unit of Fen Wolves to act as Alpha deterrent, you should be able to pick up a unit of 5 and have about 12 points to spare, enough to put a Lascannon on the tank commander too.

Alternatively, If you drop one of the Twin Assault Cannons Razorbacks and swap it for a Heavy Bolter you get 34 points back to play with, 2 short of 3 Lascannons. If your opponent is happy with 2001 points then that is also a good option. If you drop Bjorns Twin Lascannon to a Hellfrost Cannon you can shave another 25 points off getting you all 4 Lascannons on the Russes and still giving you a few more points to play with.

As for the wolf lord, he just doesnt suit the style of the army you are trying to run. Unless you want to start running some heavy hitting Wolf Guard with Jetpacks, he isnt much other than a buff bubble which is a massive waste of points IMHO.

Yeah I like the iron priest. I really like Njall for this style list as well... have to think about it.

Putting a CC monster into a list with no other CC support is crazy. If you ran 2 sets of WG bijers, one dakka and 1 CC, then you might run him alongside so you get dakka and wakka re rolls. But for a mid range gunline with dreads and tanks... not so good.
