okay so I just finished Spraying and on some of my vehicles, the undercoat is really REALLY gakky thick
soi want to remove it.
can I just strip it off with any stripping fluid?
PS: can some of you EU folks show me your preferred stipping fluid, the only things I can find people recommending (simple green for example) are unobtainable here in Germany

Usually yes, I find its surprisingly hard to strip undercoat off with my favoured stripping products ...

what is the paint and model that its on ? how did you apply it ? , I will do my best to suggest a product that will strip it for that you can get in Germany.

On vehicles spray the base coats or you will need at least three very very thin coats , Otherwise you get Chunky paint ... another technique that can work is to drybrush the whole vehicle ...

Gone-to-ground in the craters of Coventry

I have used brown Dettol, which I think is available in Germany.

Most fluid will strip everything off, to the bare plastic/resin/metal. You will have trouble getting one that follows orders.

For plastic , Dettol will work but it takes AGGGEESSS,is pricey and needs work

If I were you I would use, Brennspiritus, what we call Methlyated spirits , its bright purple stinks and is very flammable but it eats acyrlic based paints without doing damamge to the plastics , You should be able to get from larger supermarkets or hardware stores.

Soak for 15 mins , then scrub hard with a washing up brush , rinse off the residue then repeat after another 15 mins soak

repeat until your down to the undercoat ....

Automatically Appended Next Post:
The undercoat is going to be much harder ... it's not designed to flake off .... What did you use , if its a cheap car undercoat you couldbe in big trouble ... and the reason why it looks so bad is its expanding spray coat rather than contracting coat.

You can Try Nail polish remover ( Nagellackentferner) You need to make sure its acetone free, but I have had to resort to acetone based before because Undercoat is a REAL pain to remove.

Be careful it can damage plastics ...

I'm not sure, i've used some stripping agents before and the primer coat is left behind after all the paint is gone, no matter how hard i've scrubbed, all i've managed to do is get the edges to show the bare plastic underneath.

But saying that though, it's not a bad thing that the primer is left behind......

Yup , i think your going to need to go with Acetone based Nail Varnish remover to get Chaos Black off .

The Adhesion Promoters in the primer is going to be hard to defeat with many standard strippers .

@supershandy did you try nail varnish stripper ... Yes im aware you need to be very careful not to soak for too long as it can eat the plastic .

sythaside

No, it might be a thought but when you have a small child to look after as well there’s a high chance i’d forget about it

But as I said, since I needed a black undercoat anyway it was a bit of a bonus
