Does anyone know where I can find a tutorial on sculpting studded leather straps for use on some slaanesh marines? I remember GW did one years ago but I think it has been lost to time,

Given the scale, I think a dot of silver paint for the studs would do. Anything sculpted on would be the size of a scale tennis ball.

Its the same way you could do rivets
small 1mm micro beads
1mm drill bit
superglue and a ton of patience.

Even 1mm is still huge, proportionally.
40K minis are between 28mm and 32 mm from ground to eye level. Call it 30mm on the average.
Even if we assume the mini is only 6' tall overall (it's my understanding marines of all types are 7' tall superhumans), that means eye level is 5'6" - 66". So each mm equals around 2.2"
Or just a tad larger than a golf ball.

I use the ceramic white balls from a Brita water filter. Sculpt your surface smooth with greenstuff as normal, then make a small indent with a wide needle. Use spit on the end of a needle to pick up a single small ball then put that in the indent. Press into place then seal on with very thin superglue.

Yes but sometimes rule of cool trumps realism. If we go for scales things are all haywire anyway in 40k models. Is 1mm detail going to be bigger issue than all vehicles being waaaaay too small for exaple?-) Or that heads are way off etc.

1MM is about the size on the shoulder pads i recall thats what some people used for those
you could go with micro beads though. same effect but much smaller. though personally i find that they can be of varying size and shapes at time so pick them wisely
i recall the forgeworld one was using britta filter balls. i dont know what the size is
