Yaho,

I was intending to get a Stormblade for christmas but FW didn't sell them at the time. last night some kind soul sprung it on me that they're back in stock. Was anyone paying attention long enough to know how long they were gone?

Some people find the idea that other people can be happy offensive, and will prefer causing harm to self improvement.

Yeah, I missed them. Sadly, their rules are bupkis, because they didn't get updated like the Codex superheavies.

Which is a perfectly good reason to get one, folks won't complain as much

Aha! Actually, I've found a group that doesn't complain that much about the Codex tanks, though we still talk about the Overwatching-multiple-times issue. I've decided I'm not going to, unless someone is practicing for NOVA or something where the rule is unclear and might be called either way.

I'm not sure what exactly you think the issue with overwatch is. The overwatch rule explicitly says that you can fire overwatch multiple times per turn, with the only restriction being the one on shooting with enemy models within 1". And the Baneblade-class tanks state that they can fire even with enemy models within 1".

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

I don't have an issue with it personally. I will happily fire overwatch 500 times or whatever.

But my opponents have said that that is their one thing that they think is "anti-fun" about the superheavies, and so I offer not to play RAW. Also, LVO banned firing Overwatch while enemy models were within 1" of the Baneblade, so people who think NOVA is going to use the LVO ruling on the issue want to practice such that they cannot fire overwatch if an enemy unit is within 1".

Damn it.

I, too, was looking to pick one up over the holidays.

Since they didn't have any and there was no indication how long they had been/would be out of stock I wound up getting some other units instead. Now odds are it won't be until around Christmas that I'm able to go in on another Forge World order... :(

Really would like one at some point for the auxiliary units for the Ryza army I plan on putting together.

Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.

Similarly I'd love a Stormhammer (it's one of the three 'real' IG Superheavies from Epic, not these 28mm pretenders!) but the Index Rules are sad in comparison to Codex tanks... heck, even to Russes now they fire twice for free.

For me, the joy is in putting some good-looking models on the board and playing out a fantasy battle - not arguing over the poorly-made rules of some 3rd party who neither has any power over my play nor will be visiting me (and my opponent) to ensure we are "playing by the rules"

You can always use Tallarn to replicate the Superheavy Tank steel behemoth from the codex. And I plan on trying to get my opponents to let me use the codex entry for Steel Behemoth (since it's a fairly clear RAI issue), though by no means will I begrudge them the issue if they say no.
