So I have a 75 mm scale horse that I want to paint, but I don't want him to just have colours seamlessly flowing one into another, I want him to have a more textured look. So far I haven't been able to figure out how to do this, and I haven't found any useful toutorials either. I found some helpfull stuff on how to paint fur, but that doesn't really work for horses.

A bunch of the local blokes were talking about this a few weeks back. I think the theory is to paint the highlights as a series of stark highlight lines... and not worry so much about blending it in. The rest can be painted smooth as usual. I've included a picture of a horse and you can see that the shine marks are much brighter than the rest of the coat.

That could work, but unfortunately the horse has to be painted white. Maybe I could still do it that way if I paint him in a low light environment?

I think that I managed to simulate horse hair pretty decently. Unfortunatley taking good pictures of completely white models is quite difficult, and the picture doesn't really show the model accurately.

As long as base color is off white rather than pure white don't see why that wouldn't work. Leave pure white for the highlighT
