Lets say I have 36 Spawns. They only move 7" compared to moving 12"!
They are great for filling in FA slots dirt cheap.

Bikers of equal points just out perform them. I have no bikers.

What should I do with 36 Spawns?

Spawns are great, although I'm not sure why you're comparing them to bikers, one is a fast shooty unit, the other a slow:ish, resilient melee-unit. Apples and Oranges and all that.

With that said, 36 may be a wee bit too many. I'd never get more than 15-18 myself. Sell some?

Do some conversion work.

Counts as Beasts of Nurgle/fiends of slaanesh.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Spawn are still pretty good. They can actually hurt things in CC.

But a daemon save would make them better.

The only reason why i had 36 spawns is because the Imperial Armor: Siege of Vraks had listed spawns as 18ppm for Renegades and Heretics in 7th ed.

They used to move 12", move through cover and charge 2d6 and where super good for 18ppm.

Now they only move 7" and cost 36ppm (or was it 33ppm).

Beasts of Nurgle are also quite slow. In fact, slower than Spawn, so...

33 ppm.

Spawn are still awesome. They can do some real damage at that value. But yeah 36 is a lot. Make some into fiends of slaanesh (idk, give them lipstick, pom poms, and extra horns / tenticals) and hit the enemy with a double punch since fiends lock the opponent into combat and the spawn will devourer them after.

The question is: What to do with the remaining 812 points?

You probably want to field them as renegades to advance+charge, improving their threat range a lot. You'll also want a psyker for warptime.
With 36 spawn you could theoretically field 12 outrider detachments, which would be quite hilarious, annoy your opponent
One thing they lack is AP, so you'll probably need some havocs, predator or some of the heretics artillery, but I'm not familiar with those.

I would definitely use them with dual mutalith vortex beasts. Rampage!!

36 spawn is epic! Love those guys. My favorite use is killing Custodes with them.

Same boat. I ran a Spawn Rush list in 5th edition where I fielded 36 Spawn, it worked in 6th but not as well in 7th.

I'm keeping them, in the hope that a future EC / WE Codex gives us a reason to use them. Having stuck with a horde over several editions, I'm optimistic their time will come again.

Spawn don't get Legion Traits. It would be awesome if they did.

I still use Spawn like I said, but right now the TS actually get a Strategem for them (after wish listing this for ever...) And that's how they got me suckered into building a small Thousand Sons detachment.

Never realized that as they get the DG trait (which is of no use though).
