I'm looking at taking one of my homebrewed captain/lieutenants from my existing Space Marine army and making a second model for him when he is given the "Primaris" treatment. This may or may not involve him founding a Chapter of his own in the process.

Either way, to the point - in his current form, he carries a power sword and storm shield. As I understand, Primaris Captains (Gravis armoured or not) can't have storm shields at all, but given how the shield is a big feature of the Captain, I was thinking of making a Primaris Captain carry the sword and shield, but count as a Gravis Captain (the increased Toughness coming from the shield). The Invulnerable save I was thinking of getting from the Sanctic Halo (or just the normal Iron Halo), which would function pretty much the same as a shield.

So - would a Primaris Captain with a storm shield be a good enough count-as for a Gravis Captain? Or anything really - might the shield be an issue?

How about using the shield to represent Armour Indominatus?

I've never really been keen on how it works, personally, but that's a fair point!

That's actually a brilliant idea. Shame I wouldn't ever plan on running the Primaris dudes as they have literally 2 options each.
