Just looking to see if anyone has any experience of using general washes and/or pin washes with these paints? I’ve been thinking that probably using something like GW’s gloss varnishes either is probably the way to go? But be great if anyone has any experience of using washes with these? Thanks!

Ordered some but not got it yet. Not planning on washing mine - it's for dark eldar aethersails and I'm just going to use the flip effect to show the billowing of the sails. Speculating, but I reckon you'd get away with a pin wash for, say, panel lines. I suspect a broader wash would mute or completely mask the flip effect.

I've done it on similar color change paint. The inks don't have the color change property so you don't want to do a complete wash or a dip. Instead just add ink to the deepest recesses. and let the natural properties of the color changing add the depth you need elsewhere

shades and inks dulls/darkens the paint and on metallics it removes the metalshine, so for shading you must do pinwash if you dont want to repaint the colour shift.
if you must paint a highlight, try and add a slight amount of bright silver to the paint.

Brilliant - pretty much what I was thinking. Good to hear someone has had previous experience with this. Thanks!

Yeah i dont wash my color shift nid shells. I just let the color shift show the details.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

if I were inclined to use the colour shift paints - which trust me I am certainly looking at eventually - I'd probably use the gloss shades.

This is a quick test I did with a DzC model:

I've used Army Paint purple ink all over it, but I have drybrushed the chameleon paint all over it again.

Also, bear in mind that the effect looks so strong due to the flash. Under natural light, the colorshift effect is way more subtle: the whole model looks now purple, now aqua/green with way more subtle changes in hues.
