Personally, I like the new knights, I might buy it just for them, paint up the skittari for a little admech army and sell off the necrons.

I’m in the same boat as OP. Love the new Knights but might try and see if anyone is selling them on the side.

If there comes 30k rules for knights box or two. If not I have like thousands of euro\s worth of models I would like to buy with official rules to keep me busy enough to not buy models I couldn't use in any capacity outside home games.

I am interested in the Necron half. It's a good little starter set and I imagine will make the new crypteks dirt cheap on ebay a few weeks after release.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

If I can find someone to split the Necron side with, I'll be getting at least one set.

Can't go wrong with more Skitarii and another Techpriest isn't awful since I've already got 6x Onagers and the SC doesn't really help me because of that.

I want Necrons and AdMech, but I want the Necrons more and since a friend of mine wants the AdMech (as he already has a sizable Necron Force) we're each going to buy a box and split the contents.

I put 'no', but it just depends on when/how I decide to add some allies to my Chaos Renegades.

I like the idea of the small Armigers, and if this is some kind of stellar deal, I may pick up a box and shift everything else just to set them aside.

I'd be interested in 2 boxes. And if I do I'm pretty sure that I'm just going to sell off 2 of the armigers.

Why are they releasing another starter kit? 9th in the pipe already?

Have no use for these factions, but it's good to see a box without Space Marines. In fact I think Robots vs. Robots is a really cool matchup.
That being said, I'm not really sold on the new knight, but I wasn't a fan of the old one either - and it looks like its small brother.

It's a pretty solid starter for a Necron force. Something to build on.

Im most interested because these knights are likely cheap lords of war that I can use to sneak a Falchion in a super heavy detachment in apoc battles.

You mean the Faphammer Sky Annihilation Sky Force that allowed you to smash models IRL with a ball peen? I only ever got to play that list once and then I had to go to small claims court...

No, what Victor is referring to is boxes like Stormclaw, Deathstorm, or Death Masque--3 'pseudostarters' that were available with alternate units to the main big box and just used stuff pulled off the shelves.

Death Masque was the first way to get a box of Deathwatch, I might add.

What you apparently raged over was a $300+ one-click bundle that then got all of the 'exclusivity' torn out of it a year later by a $30-$35 supplement for C: SM.

I doubt they're lords of war.

Typically they give you a workable, battle forged detachment.

1 techpriest dominus
10 skitarii
2 armiger warglaives

I would wager they're Elite.

The Necron force is HQ/Troop/Elite.

It also makes sense they'd be elite because of the nature of the supreme command detachment. So you could bring these with a knight and a few characters.

I voted maybe but i'm actually thinking i might get this and split it. Because I have an Imperial Knight, and I would love to be able to field a workable 1,000 point army with him in it.

I'm sorry, I guess my extreme GW-phobia makes me distrust pretty much everything they do when it comes to books and editions. I really should just buy models!

I just see a lot of stuff that points towards an imminent edition change and it scares me to think I'm wasting money on books when I could be buying models instead. A new box like this one usually heralds an edition change but I guess they could be releasing it for another reason..

I will buy this fosho, maybe if I can team up w someone local to buy 2 and I'll keep the Admech. 4 Armigers would be badass supporting a knight acheron.

honestly I'm not sure the skitarii would get used until i have more admech tho.

the models do look really nice and hopefully this bodes well for other non-marine boxed games.

I'm looking at you sister vs Orks.

They released bunch of these in 6th and 7th ed without immediate edition change.

Now 9th ed IS coming but when is another thing. Probably not this year. Maybe next year. 2020-2022 would be fairly likely candinates.

Why? You think GW hates idea of getting more money? Periodic new edition is steady print money button as long as they don't push it too often but 3-5 years has worked for them for quite a while so no reason to think they would change it. There's expression "don't fix what ain't broken" and periodic edition changes have steadily worked for them. No reason to think they won't be doing what keeps giving them money.

8th ed 2017. 3-5 to that=2020-2022. This isn't even fastest they COULD be releasing. They have shown willingness to release within 2 years so we could be looking even next year but not quaranteed.

And with all the FAQ's, errata's and whatnot which keeps increasing number of different files you need to keep, facebook posts etc probably better to get updated rules sooner rather than later. Dread to think how many different faq's and erratas we need at the end of next year if they don't start concolidiating those.

"Maybe".

1) Depends on price.
2) Depends on if the impending necron codex is fun or not.

If the pricetag is good and if the codex is fun, I might very well start a necron army, and so I might buy a couple of boxes, assuming I have someone to split it with.
