This Is Where the Fish Lives

After I finished my Flames of War mid-war American army, I was still in the mood to paint some tanks. I looked over some of my in progress models and picked this Renault FT to work on. I started it almost a year ago and set it aside after I painted the camouflage scheme because I wasn't happy with it and wasn't willing to repaint it. Three weeks ago, this model was relegated to the Shelf of Doom, but now it's proudly on display in my cabinet!

Even though the British Mk. I heavy tank and French Schneider CA1 predate it, the Renault FT is considered to the forebearer of the modern tank. It has it's engine and drive sprockets in the rear, driver in the front, and a turret housing the main armament with full 360 degree rotation; the most common configuration seen today on tanks around the world. This is a 1/35 scale kit by Meng-Model. The only changes to the kit are the use of metal chain and tool straps made with Tamiya tape to replace the photo etch ones provided in the kit. Finished in Vallejo Model Air and Tamiya acrylics; AK Interactive and Ammo of Mig enamels; and Ammo of Mig and Secret Weapon Miniatures pigments.

Comments and criticism welcomed as always!

Great work. That is probably one of the most important tanks in history - it more or less defined the basic idea going forward of how we would design future tanks.

Beautiful camo!

I saw with eyes then young, and this is my testament.
