Hi all,

I decided to pick up some Vanguard 3mm tanks, just to see if I could paint them. Obviously they are roughly 1/10th 32mm, so each is about the size of a Space Marine backpack! Here they are -

Centurion MBTs -

Sniper tank-hunters -

Challenger heavy tanks -

And the full company, with a WIP Primaris for scale -

I wish I could take better photos to do them justice, because they really are fantastic models, amazing detail.

I've ordered some infantry next, should be another interesting new challenge. Thanks for looking

Really awesome to see what you've done with the models. How was it to paint models in this scale?

Really nice work at 3mm! Especially like your approach with the edge highlights!

Looking for the Rest of the II Legion

That’s some serious detail on such a small model!

Thanks very much all

They are very easy indeed to paint, and having to be honest, there is no edge highlighting going on - just a couple of very thin coats of primer, 2 or 3 very thin coats of red and a then a heavily thinned black wash, which itself thins towards the edges and so makes it looks like I can paint

So red, grey, metal, wash the lot, green lights, done. And a coat of varnish, really improves the colour.

Also £14 for a whole tank company, not often you can say that in this hobby

On an Express Elevator to Hell!!

Very nice work!

Work well on the bases as well (I guess that's a requirement when you are working with that scale!)

Thanks dude

I haven't glued them on the bases, they're just some plasticard I rushed to chop up, but yes I think they're too small to not have bases, I think 6mm are fine without but at 3mm they need a base to set them off. And so you don't lose them

I was thinking maybe FoW bases, slightly higher, like these -

Spoiler:

but the bigger artillery version, to raise them up a bit.

I've used 2mm mdf bases and pva glue to stick them on, suprising detail for 3mm

Thanks, I'm going to try something similar for the next batch.

Re the detail, you really can't see the detail properly on my photos. The side armour is all multi layered, the sponsons are all clearly different, there all sorts of little panels and sensors and things I haven't picked out. Basically if you scaled them straight up to 32mm and added no detail whatsoever, they'd still look pretty cool.

Some details on the bases would be nice, like ruins or trees?

Very easy way to give the models a lot more character. Maybe also make track markers on the bases.

Yes, he's a bit good

Hi again all. I 've taken some pics before painting, just to try to show the detail in these minis -

Those dreads are each about the size of a 40K shoulder pad!

Here's some infantry -

And a first go at 3mm terrain, just to try it out -

Enjoy
