I ask as I picked a copy up at Warhammer World the other week.

I joined in 2nd Ed so have never played it.

Crucially, has it stood the test of time and is it any good?

Thanks in advance.

Please note, for those of you who play Chaos Daemons as a faction the term "Daemon" is potentially offensive. Instead, please play codex "Chaos: Mortally Challenged". Thank you.

I do not, personally. I also started in 2nd. I see a lot of people on the Oldhammer pages on Facebook who still play it. I don't know if it's any good - it's more of a role-playing game in approach.

I understood it is more of a skirmish game, fewer units and fairly random character generation - so yes, more roleplaying.

I was just wondering if there is still a scene for this sort of thing as it would be nice to have a break from dropping 50+ models on a table.

Oh, and I don't use Facebook - hence the question I guess.

I think it would be more fair to say that it couldn't quite figure out what it was when it launched. The supplement books took it to a place that wasn't a million miles from 2nd edition and then 2nd came along and cemented that.

i hadn't played since RT and would love to play it again. It was defineatly more RPG than true wargame but it was massively fun. Small model counts, crazy stuff happening and random insanity (looking at you vortex grenades).
