Hello group,

I am building an Genestealers gang for Necromunda using March’s White Dwarf magazine rules. I bought the Neophyte Hybrids box. In it, there is 3rd generation and 4 generation option. I wonder as lore/fluff goes, what generation would make better gang Leaders and Champions?

Are 3ed generation closer to the Tyranids, so stronger and with better instincts then humans or is it the opposite, 4th generation are smarter and more evolved then their more animalistic tyranids counterparts?

Thanks a bunch,

Laurent

I'd say probably 4th generation. Not because they're more intelligent than those closer to Tyranids (likely the opposite), but because they're the most likely to be able to interact with regular hive-dwellers without arousing suspicion.

Oh, and I've come up with a semi-expanded Shadow War idea and need some feedback! https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/726439.page

4th gen magi are usually depicted as the leader clade.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Either could suffice. If you look at the leadership of a full fledged cult there are 2nd generation leaders (Acolyte Iconward), ~3rd generation (Primus, though they are slightly outside the normal cycles), and 4th generation (Magi). According to the 7th edition codex the 3rd and 4th generation Neophytes have about the same level of intellect with the main difference being how easily they can conceal their Tyranid features (4th generation blends in completely, 3rd generation can be mistaken for mutants depending on what traits they inherit), so the main factor is how important being able to interact freely with non-hybrid forces is to your gang. If they are simply acting as cult enforcers then they could arguably be lead by an especially clever 2nd generation hybrid, let alone a 3rd or 4th generation hybrid. If they are operating on their own then they will probably want to be made up of mostly 4th generation hybrids to avoid drawing attention to themselves.
