Subject: Rules for placing the FW castellum stronghold and other big fortifications.

So the FW Castellum Stronghold is a 2' x 2' model and can be taken as a fortification for a pretty significant price (but that is besides the point). Most board arrangements do not have deployment zones big enough to fit the Castellum Stronghold does that mean it can't be placed and is destroyed? Also what happens if there is terrain in the way?
So it seems to me it is really not possible to take the Castellum Stronghold in a 2k tournament matched playlist?
I looked through the RB, Chapter Approved and the FAQ's and the rules on fortifications are really limited so if anyone has any answers to what rules limit fortifications placement I would be very appreciative.
Thank you!

Basically, the game breaks because there are no rules to deal with it. Agree pre-game or ask the TO.

Okay, away from a rulebook but when I browse the main rulebook FAQ, it changed most of the deployments to read "wholly within". So you likely need to fit the whole thing in the deployment zone if you consider the fortifications to be a 'unit'.
Asking the TO is a good idea. Another could be making a conversion that is smaller in size and fits in a deployment zone. I'm not sure anyone would say you're modelling for advantage if you make a fortifications SMALLER.
EDIT: Actually, Matched Play Deployment is on a mission-by-mission basis, so if your tournament is using custom missions (as most are), you MUST ask the TO or consult the issued deployment rules.

You use it in narrative games and don't try to take it to a tourney, is the honest answer. No-one will let you deploy a huge model spilling out of your deployment zone, nor will they let you move terrain to place your uberfortress. That's all you need to know, really.

If it was only for narrative it wouldn't have a points value, most likely.
Anyway, I could see some tournaments allowing it. Probably not ITC, but your FLGS tournament might think it was a fun gimmick, someplace might have enough room, e.t.c.

"Narrative" doesn't mean "doesn't use points".
There are plenty of deployment zone options which can fit a 24" x 24" board segment in them - look at the various missions (or the Deployment cards in the Open War deck, and remember that while the measurements are presented assuming a 6' x 4' table, you're supposed to scale them appropriately; use a bigger table if you need to). The simplest option is to put the deployment zones along the short edges rather than the long edges. On a 6' x 4' board, your deployment zone will be 2' deep while you're still 12" from the centreline. Or use the quartered deployment zones.
If you're planning to go to a specific event, ask the organisers. They're the ones setting the rules, so only they can tell you if it'll be OK to use.

It's only the match play aspect of the game that is difficult the other two thirds are still fine (narrative and open).

You still have the problem of finding a big enough empty space on the table to deploy it even if the deployment zone is big enough.
The only practical way to use it is to arrange the deployment of terrain around it (it is an RoB tile after all) which is not following the rules.
Like the rest of the fortifications it is better used as regular terrain.
