Just curious... with the new rules on flyers, are Necron flyers worth taking? Or are there better options for the points?

Thanks

the codex is dropping in like 2 weeks you'll have to wait and see for that IMHO

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

Dunno until the new codex is out.
And yes I know the beta is out but I feel like there will be more changes in the final version.

Here's the issue, if the Codex comes out and flyers are very good, they'll sell out in stores and online possibly for a good while (as GW doesn't seem to keep enough backstock). That's why I was wondering about it now.

You could just buy 1 or 2 of the models that you think look good or have traditionally been good. Chances are that if they have been good then they'll at least still be usable, even if not optimal choices, and if you bought on looks then you still have that going for the model.

Well, the Night Scythe has been a solid choice since its introduction. Excluding stratagems, it remains the best way to give deep strike to Immortals and Warriors, while still having some offensive output. They provide mobility for an army that severely lacks it. It seems like they will be roughly the same points as a Ghost Ark, the other transport, but they are faster and have better guns. I would say owning 1-2, you will always find a use for them in most games. If you are a strictly competitive player, then, like the other posters said, it would be better to wait.

Active armies, still collecting and painting First and greatest love - Orks, Orks, and more Orks largest pile of shame, so many tanks unassembled most complete and painted beautiful models, couldn't resist the swarm will consume all
Armies in disrepair: nothing new since 5th edition oh how I want to revive, but mostly old fantasy demons and some glorious Soul Grinders in need of love

They're having production problems. Odds are if the flyers aren't good they'll be close enough i'm sure.

Doom Scythe is largely outclassed by the Doomsday Ark I think. The Night Scythe is usable with the new stratagems but I think if you're going for a deep strike strategy you're better served just playing Nephrekh and skipping the Night Scythe.

Well the issue is that the codex is dropping pretty soon so any answer now is likely to change in a short amount of time. That being said a little bit of flyer support isn't a bad thing in most armies.
