Hello! Ever since I ordered a bunch of random junk from Reaper Miniatures and got a few additional paints in the box, I've used their "Faded Black" paint for anything that is meant to stay black, due to it having a nice "tone" to it that distinguishes it from Citadel Chaos Black. Unfortunately the pot is starting to run dry and from looking at Reapers website I can't seem to find it, so I assume it's been discontinued or it being a "promo color" it didn't gain enough traction to become a mainstay... So I'm wondering if anyone knows where I might find a possible replacement for this colour, the code on the pot (Fittingly enough, the print is very faded ) is "09657" if that is of any help. Thank you

Name: Faded Black
Pigment(?) Code: 09657
Non-Toxic, Water Solable

Hi there, is it a slight shade higher that Chaos Black or is it darker than Chaos Black as we can't seem to find it either

Looks like it was a 'special edition' paint.

Man that sucks, it's such a good paint :(

@Supershandy
I'm not very good at describing colours (or things in general) but I'd assume it's lighter, since it's easy to distinguish details of stuff painted using it. Any tips of how to provide an image example?

That’s more than enough I can see two options here,

It could be something similar shade wise to our Obsidian Black or Slate Grey,

Or if you’re able to create a swatch (a 2x2 cm square with four thickish layers on a piece of card) we could attempt to recreate it, however being a black, there’s a small chance it won’t be successful (blacks for some reason are harder to make then you think!)

Vallejo has several near black colors in their Model Color line. Your best bet would to Google images of the colors to see if you can find a match for Faded Black.

If you're sticking with RMS: Noir Black is the best replacement. It's not identical (they'd have the same name then). But it's a very black grey, or a slightly grey black...
