I was looking for the terminator captain on the GW site and was surprised to see that he is not listed! It's not just temporarily listed as out of stock or no longer available, but doesn't show up at all.

Well, the Deathwatch version is listed, which is the same model with the additional upgrade frame, but it seems surprising that the non-Deathwatch version is no longer sold. Any thoughts on this? Perhaps an early sign that GW is planning to discontinue other non-Primaris space marine models?

I can still get the Deathwatch Terminator Captain which is the spruce with extra stuff.

Let's be optomistic. Perhaps they're about to release a new kit?

I mean, getting rid of Oldmarines _could_ be a thing. A stupid thing, but a thing. But if I was GW Squatting proper normal old Marines, why would I start with a Terminator Captain of all things? There's no proper Primaris Terminator armour at all, and terminator armour's pretty iconic. Surely I'd start with tactical squads, or assault squads, or something the Primaris have already got a proper replacement ish for?

It's also a little early. We've only released one Primaris transport yet.

Maybe someone who cares about Facebook could ask the GW team there?

As far as I remember the regular marine (non-Deathwatch) version of the terminator captain hasn't been available on his own for quite some time. He's still in the Start Collecting box - maybe they wanted to do it so the SC box had an 'exclusive' mini?

IIRC all of the deathwatch versions of the normal marine stuff include at least one of these, some has 2-3:

Some of the DW had extra bargains as well. The Land Raider box had the stuff to make the basic LR as well as the LRR/LRC, all just for a couple bucks more then the stock LR kit.

I see “sprue” autocorrected to “spruce” so often i read them as the same and totally missed the Christmas tree joke.

Due to the nature of text based communicating, I try to default to helpful if i can’t tell if someone is joking or being sarcastic. I figured your comment was one of those, but as I totally missed the joke, answered it straight.

On topic, there are a number of boxes out there which have chapter upgrade spues or other bonuses included for a minimal upcharge. Well worth looking into, for the bits box or trade fodder.

From what I can recall, he's not really been available solo too much...
The plastic Terminator Captain has only been available as:
Deathwatch Terminator Captain(solo--intended as a splash release really as he came with the DW sprue)
Start Collecting: Space Marines
Strike Force Ultra
A now unavailable/hidden box that was called something like "Terminator Command Squad" that was him and a box of Tactical or CC Terminators(I can't remember exactly which).

Same goes for the Power Armoured Captain with the Mister Kitty helmet:
Command Squad set of him+a Command Squad
"Shadow Force Solaq" box for the Tau v. Raven Guard set(which was abysmally disappointing)

Was just thinking the same thing. Outside of the DW captain release (which is still available via GW Direct) I don't think I've ever seen it as a stand-alone.

He's still in the Start Collecting box, so if you're set on getting him, I'd suggest picking this up before they overhaul the box with another set later down the line.
