I finally picked up the space marine codex. Wow. Poorly set up doesn't even come close to describing this book.
Can anyone tell me the stock price of a stormhawk interceptor armed with the base weapons.
Thanks,

The points are in the codex. They are all in a big table at the back. Take the base cost, then add the cost of the weapons. You can't just ask for points wholesale, that's a quick way for the GW Legal Jets to be launched. If you can't work it out manually, you can try Battlescribe, though it can sometimes be wrong.

Pay for the Stormhawk Interceptor.
Then pay for the weapons as listed in its profile.
Done.

Then get chapter approved 2017 and realise the codex is probably incorrect unless its a new print and they updated the points.

Following that advice, do I pay for a marine and then pay for a bolter?

Correct. Anything that isn't a named character you pay the Base cost, plus the cost of any weapons. However, the cost of a Boltgun, Frag and Krak Grenades may surprise you.

Hahahahahahaha. I saw the cost for the bolter. Well done.
I must say this book is crazy poorly written and layed out.

Would you rather months between updates or TWELVE YEARS? </SaltyDarkEldarPlayer> Yes, they should have done it right the first time, but this is better than the alternative.

A paperback mini dex version with the rules for playing for 15$ is what I want. Same with CA (which should have included the FAQs/designer commentary)
40 bucks for a book that I was able to use for a couple months feels like a rip off. Selling indexes with out dated rules is worse and seems slimy.
Hopefully they get the army list builder app right. That's a product I won't mind paying for at all.

Considering the resources available and the history of the company, some proof reading and a thought toward layout and design would not seem to far from reasonable.
TBH, if it was a solid ruleset and/or codex you could go 23 years between editions.

Yep, but it's not.
The idea behind the points page being separate was that they could just update those - but they don't do that either. They "should" publish PDF replacement pages for the updated points, but are yet to do that.

Thats why i like the enhanced ibooks version of codexes, there you get popups for rules and points costs, without leaving the datasheet. also the changes from faqs are inclued after updates to the book. you can even add your own comments if something is printed wrong (which admittedly happens sometimes).
Sure, you need an ipad and you don't get a real book, but in my opinion the advantages are undeniable

Yeah that's actually good point. They put in points to back of codex but then actually don't UTILIZE it. As it is they could update points with same way as they do now if point costs had been on data sheet.

Yes! Exactly! That makes me so mad-they made it more annoying for one small benefit, AND THEN IGNORED THAT BENEFIT!

Of course one still needs the codex to play. Battlescribe has plenty of errors making not only list building illegal but also for rules themselves.
Nevermind anybody without proper codex to show rules won't get game against any sensible player. It's way too easy to alter battlescribe files for them to be trustworthy.

The codex is laid out so poorly. Every unit should have all wargear options listed on the page with their respective costs and statlines. You could still fit every single unit and option for any unit in the game on one page. The current system of points in the back separate from statlines and rules is stupid for a printed book.

Especially as the one benefit it had was ignored...So not only we have clumsy system that doesn't even pretend it's balanced GW also doesn't use the one advantage the system has(which actually would have been pretty good advantage!). GJ!

The codexes are like that intentionally to discourage point play and try and force people into Power Level play. Luckily it's not been that successful so points will remain in 9th. Edit: This is just my opinion of course.

No. No, they’re not like that for the reasons you say. That’s you projecting your agenda onto things.
