What do you guys think about his brush? I bought one from hobby lobby with a discount coupon. Friend of mine says that it being a bottom-feed will be an issue.

He definitely has more experience than me, and his models look great, so just wanted to know what you guys think? I'm brand new to airbrushes. I know next to nothing about them. I want this airbrush for doing priming, base coats, and camouflage.

It looks like a good airbrush and i know a lot of modellers use the HP CS (gravity feed version) without any issues. For what you want to use it for it should be fine. The only issue might be if you want to do fine detail with it as it has a fairly large needle size and is bottom feed, which usually needs higher air pressure, so painting smaller details could be more difficult. Otherwise looks like a nice brush.

I own a gravity fed HP-CS and I love it. I also have a siphon fed iwata Neo.

The gravity feed is far easier to deal with given how often we have to switch paints when airbrushing minis. To the point that I don’t think I’ve even bothered trying to use the Neo in a couple years.

One example is that you can easily mix paints in the gravity cup whereas doing that with a siphon bottle is a PITA.

If you can, I’d suggest taking that siphon fed one back and getting a gravity fed one. You’ll be much happier.
