I have played BA for years as one of my main armies, but I need some advice returning to them. Just a small list to start with involving the Overwatch immune Captain and DC with Stratagem and Librarian support and backed up by mobile anti-tank tactical squad and Razorback assistance, the bikes deal with the heavier and lighter infantry and are somewhat of a distraction Carnifex while the DC and Captain hunt down Russes and other tanks or battlesuits. Any advice on general improvements to the list or how it should be played?

I'm not a fan of inferno pistols given that they rarely get to fire when it matters, particularly after deepstriking. I have generally found that more models is the way to go with DC, chainsword+bolter is stronger than it looks. I only upgrade a few with power swords or thunder hammers. So if I were you I'd drop one or two powerfists and spend the points on more DC instead.
Regular bikers are in a rough spot when compared to the closely related scout bikers. They are cheaper, faster and get a free shotgun which can fire alongside the twin bolter, at the cost of slightly lower survivability per point. They also lose access to weapon options so you wouldn't be able to give them plasma guns, but the leftover points could be funneled into the DC squad. It might seem like overdoing it but being able to use the Descent of Angels stratagem to full effect is basically the strongest aspect of the BA codex.

Yes, having more low damage shooting with AP is a consideration. You have a lot of antitank options so perhaps dropping your missile launchers in favor of plasma guns is an option. On another note your librarian is currently using the Shield of Sanguinius power, it is a decent buff for your Death Company but you could also try using Wings of Sanguinius. That power gives you enough mobility to get into melee with backline units immediately after deepstriking. You need to be careful with a regular librarian given that he is not durable, but it turns him into a very flexible tool. I also noticed that your scout sergeant has a stormbolter, that is currently legal with the index flowchart but the option was removed in the codex. So it might not stay legal, in case you are worried about that.

A libby with JP is not worth it. For 145 you get mephiston, he can move as fast with wings of sanguinius and hits so much harder. You can give you scout bike sarge a stormbolter for even more bolter shots. Worth the 2 pts. You do have a lot of anti vehicle. Maybe change one twin lascannon for a twin AC ?

I went supreme anti-tank because my friend has 3 Leman Russ Battle Tanks in 1000 points so I guess I took all the precautions I thought necessary. If it’s too much I’ll add some plasma goodness.

Neither list really seems like a blood angels list. You are not making use of the special buffs and rules. Red thirst and black rage are amazing if coupled with other buffs, like a sangiunary priest to give +1 strength. If you relabeled the death company as vanguard squad this could be any chapter. Go all in with blood angels or go regular space marines.

Well what do you suggest I change about the list to make it more Blood Angel like? Sanguinary Guard and other special units seem like a great points sink at 1000 points, even the increased DC is significant. I’m just not sure how I can optimise my list without being erased by Leman Russ Battle Tanks and Crisis Suits.

Then dont play your army as blood angels at low point games. Use your generic units and play a different chapter tactic that will give you an edge. RG have the -1 to hit at long ranges that could help, salamanders get the free rerolls per unit. Lots of options out there.

I am quite set on doing blood angels because I have the painted army which I have had for years. I increased the points to 1250pts because that’s what me and my friends will play at the moment maximum, I have managed to add Sanguinary Guard to the list to utilise Red Thirst and character killing, the Captain can still eliminate overwatch from scary units and then be backed up by the DC or SG along with the banner for maximum hits.

I just re read my last post. It probably came off more rude than intended. I apologize if that was the case.
Now that is a blood angels list. ALL of the pluses and rerolls.
With the addition of the guard you are forcing some decisions for your opponent. They have to claim objectives, try to destroy your lascannons and at the same time stay spread out enough to try and deny a deep strike. The guard can be very scary when it comes in on a flank or the back lines.

Its a few more pts at 1350 but heres a list i run. Maby you and your group want to push the pts up a little

3x 6man primaris marines
Elites
12 death company w/jetpacks and 2x thunderhammers
Supreme command detachment +1 cp
3x shield captain on dawneagle jetbikes
Comes in at exactly 1350pts
Its a simple list to run with lots of flexibility, by allying in the custodes Captins on bikes you get 3 hard hitting mobile units to be the 2nd wave After you dc scalpel takes out a tank or opens up a flank. With some Luck mephiston can keep up with them for a turn 2 assault.
You 2hp marines can hold backfeild objs and maby hit something with 30" Ap -1 bolters. They wont hold up as well as you might think in cc after a charge But against t4 or lower they can mulch a unit or two. I find them as much use or better then tac/scouts
Im hosting a 1350 pts tourney in may and will be running this list

A question on units with BA, would it be better to take the Sanguinary Guard, or a squad of 5 Vanguard Vets with SS and Power Axes? They’re both the same amount of points but the VV get the 3++ save along with more attacks, but the SG get some better buffs with Death Masks and a higher armour save, but both have jump pack manuverability
