Fluffy Space Wolf list. First time building wolves, so I'm not really sure on some of the choices. Storm Bolter wolf guard seems good (40 storm bolter rapid fire shots in total) and I put Grey hunters as support and obsec. Ragnar and wolf guards are to be delivered via Stormwolf. C&C appreciated!

Battalion: 6 CP
HQ
Ragnar
Wolf Guard battle leader w/storm Bolter and chainsword

Troops
3x Grey Hunters w/chainswords

Elites
2x 6 man Wolf Guard
Leader w/ frost sword, Storm bolter
2x Power Axe, Storm bolter
1x TH/SS
1x Wolf Claw, Storm bolter
1x Frost sword, Storm bolter

Flyer
Stormwolf

Comes out to 999 points. I figure in a low points game my plan of dropping wolves into rapid fire/charge range via Stormwolf should be viable, but not sure on Grey Hunter vs Blood Claws and if the weapon loadouts on the wolf guard are any good.

I've played a lot of wolves so far this edition. I've come to like other wolflords better then Ragnar if you have them. I like harald deathwolf. For me he is the new hotness. 2+ invul against shooting 7 wounds T5 and can outflank naturally. I've tried ragnar but found a regular wolflord on bike or thunderwolf to be better.

I have felt this edition that greyhunters have been more of a tax for me just to get more CP. I've decided to go without them until we get a codex. I favor elite heavy lists. Wulfen have been the shining stars for me. I usually use the strategem to outflank them, then deep strike a jumppack wolf priest near them for the reroll all failed hits.

Speaking of jumppacks I've been using jumppack wolfguard to great effect. I kit them with stormbolters and frost weapons or wolf claws.
Speaking of stormbolters I have come to love wolfguard on bikes with storm bolters and a few storm shields. T5 3+ invul 2w each and a unit of 5 puts out 40 shots in rapid fire range. Great at clearing horde units and quickly capturing objectives for those maelstrom missions. I can post my recent test tounament list if you'd like.

I don't own a stormwolf but I've always wanted one.

I'd keep the wolf guard a shooty unit, not a choppy one. Take 5-6 of the all with stormbolters and chainswords, nothing else.

Bring a standard wolf lord on thunderwolf with the relic sword, he's more effective and also cheaper than ragnar. If you struggle with points a lord as the only HQ could be ok for 1000 points.

Add a unit of long fangs with 2-3 lascannons. Maybe a rhino/razorback or plasma guns for the GH squads.

Aahh, thanks for the advice. I'll look into swapping some of the wolf guard to bikes, but I really wanna keep Ragnar (I recently read the omnibus and wanted to field him specifically.) Any reasons why wolf guard should be shooty instead of CC? Wolves are mostly CC focused right?

Yeah but wulfen and TWC are way better than them in close combat. And the wolf guards can have a couple of very efficient shooty loadouts like giving them stormbolters or even combi plasmas. They can also be played as a CC unit but not as your main heavy hitters, they're more like a support for your dedicated melee units.
