Is there any restriction for units with the MONSTER key word being able to move though walls ?
Page 248 of the rule book (advanced rules section) states: -
INFANTRY are assumed to be able to scale walls and traverse through windows, doors and portals readily.
These models can therefore move through the floors and walls of a ruin without further impediment.
(bold added for emphasis only)
Does this mean that there is a restriction for MONSTERS & if so, what is it ?
Cheers

It says exactly what a MONSTER and VEHICLE can in the paragraph just above the one you mentioned, also on page 248.
It means they cannot move across floors or go through walls as only models with the INFANTRY keyword can do this.

Unless the MONSTER has the INFANTRY keyword, then it can't move though ruins.

"Unless" it has the keyword, not "If it does". i.e. the MONSTER also needs the INFANTRY keyword to be able to move though ruins. Sorry the sentence is a bit mangled on second glance. I meant to say "It cannot move through the ruin, Unless the MONSTER also has the INFANTRY keyword."

The Fly keyword would help monsters.

Thanks peeps
That's pretty much how I had interpreted it, but a friend thought otherwise. He has subsequently offered to eat humble pie

I still dont unterstand how and when one rule takes precedence over the other. MONSTER cant move through ruin walls, INFANTRY can. Why does INFANTRY take precedence ?

Because of the rule spelling out units with the INFANTRY Keyword can? It’s jot about taking precedence, it’s an ability a unit with INFANTRY gets. Others do not.

But its also a MONSTER, which cant move through ruin walls. Your unit has the ability to move through ruin walls, but also the restriction not moving through ruin walls. One rule must take precedence, otherwise they would nullify each other.

You’ve got it wrong. Anything with the Keyword INFANTRY can move throughout ruin walls. Anything without can’t. We no longer have Unit Types, only Keywords. It’s about conferring an ability, not Unit Types. Similarly this hypothetical INFANTRY MONSTER would get cover just for being in a Wood, whereas a MONSTER would need 50% covered. But I don’t think such a unit exists anyway.

I guess this was just an example, i dont know if such a unit exists either. But what if there is something similiar ? You just cant ignore the rule saying that you cant do the one thing the other rule allows you to.

There is no rule that says you can't. There is a rule saying you have to measure distance up and over or around a wall. Except models with the INFANTRY keyword gain the ability to move through it. It's exactly like the FLY keyword allowing you to shoot when you fall back.

Exactly this. You keep talking about rules that don't exist, p5freak.Just read and apply what is there - don't infer others from edition lag or gaps.

I have a feeling p5freak doesn't own the main rule book and has never bothered to read the 8 page rules released for free. He's having a lot of trouble recently.

So as a monster. For example a Heirodule. going into ruins I can measure the height of the wall then take that off my movement.

x2. You have to move up, over, and down the wall technically. That or go around it.
