Why would Rangdans receive such a big callback at the expense of what RS usually does, article tied to new incoming Codex (so, in this case, Dark Eldar)...?

Though, II and XI legions being somehow well-known in-universe bit makes me lean towards the latter. Pity.

Well it was 10,000 years ago. And if the Grey Knights can handwave an entire daemon invasion on Armageddon and yet get it recolonized and invaded by orks within a couple hundred years, I guess it's not too crazy the imperium could cover up II and XI legions with 10,000 years of time

I see this as more of a spoof of the 1930s USSR where it was pretty common for a hero of the revolution to be dissappered and the page with their picture on it taped over with something else.

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

Yeah I'm firmly in the joke camp and I'm glad the Regimental Standard isn't just doing "news" article and sometime just do something funny for the sake of it.

"Our fantasy settings are grim and dark, but that is not a reflection of who we are or how we feel the real world should be. [...] We will continue to diversify the cast of characters we portray [...] so everyone can find representation and heroes they can relate to. It was the 1st Legion that was involved with the Xenocides as well, pre-Heresy iirc

Regimental Standard doesn't have a "usual". They did their Dark Eldar preview last week.

Text of this one:
Attention, Guardsmen!

You are about to embark upon a pacification campaign designed to bring several worlds back into compliance. This will give you the opportunity to bring the Emperor’s justice to traitor regiments, as well as giving you the opportunity to test your skills against human opponents.

As such, your risk of critical injury is much higher than usual, as you will be facing the deadliest weapon known to any race in the galaxy – the lasgun.

Unfortunately, due to a printing error, the section of your Uplifting Primer dealing with field dressing a lasgun wound has accidentally been replaced with a concise history of the Rangdan Xenocides and a complete guide to fighting these sinister xenos. This is a feature that would, in its own way, be invaluable, had the Rangdan not been exterminated ten millennia ago and had the guide not been based on embellished accounts that include tactics, weaponry, regiments and Space Marine Legions that do not, as far as we can tell, appear to exist.

Fear not – all menials associated with this error have been assigned to more useful labour*, while the Regimental Standard has graciously reprinted the missing section to cut out and stick over the offending section.

"Traitor Regiments" is a URL link to Genestealer Cults Neophyte Hybrid Squad, so I'm thinking we'll see a notification about GSC sometime soonish.

I think that's more the one unit that isn't IG on the webstore who might be shooting at IG with lasguns, rather than a cryptic hit. Though the letters from the front article a while back also had some genestealers in it.

Quite frankly, they've done this a few times where they drop hints via RS for later down the road.

No, that was generic Eldar one. I expected to see DE this week (seeing they did 2x Necrons before that) so talking about rangdans and lost legions (complete with suggestion they are well known after all) instead was surprising...

Nope.
This was the generic Eldar one. October 18th of last year.

The first of the "Necron" ones was tied to Forgebane(which went up for preorder the same week), the second was the actual Necrons one(preorder for Necrons Codex was a week later). Quite frankly, the "Know Your Aeldari" one likely had more to do with the fact that Harlequins also got announced at Adepticon.
