Sup!

I have 2 questions regarding some stuff from SM/DA/BA/SW/etc.

1. Smoke Launchers. Can I use them even if I advenced with the vehicle? It says 'instead of shooting'; as their carriers generally have no Assault weapons, usually you cannot shoot - but does this preclude the ability of shooting, therefore impossibilitating the Smoke Launchers? Or am I reading too much into the rule?

2. Lieutenants. This unit is composed of 1-2 Lieutenants. Normally, when you deploy a uint, it must be in coherence. However, this one has a rule called 'Company Heroes' - telling us all models in this unit must be set up at the same time (strange, as this is the normal behavior of deploying) and then working as separate units once the game starts. My question is if I need to deploy them in coherence prior to the start of the game or if I can deploy them in different places - but ath the same time - as 2 lieutenants near eachother doesn't make much sense.

1. Yes. You can use smoke launchers after advancing.

Rulebook FAQ 1.1 Page 4
Q: Can abilities that are used ‘instead of shooting’, such as Smoke Launchers, be used if the model using them has Fallen Back, Advanced or has enemy models within 1" of it?
A: Yes. A model can use such an ability so long as it does not shoot – it does not matter whether this is because the model cannot shoot or it chooses not to.

2. That is the tax for getting 2 for one slot. You drop them both in coherency and then they act as individuals. Okay ignore that.

If Khorne needs blood, will drown him in his own blood!
If Slaanesh wants pleasure, then we´ll give him DEATH, the greatest pleasure known to man!
If Tzeentch asks for forbidden knowledge, then we will enlighten him with fear of The God Machine!
If Nurgle wants us to embrace rebirth, then to hell with that, the Guard embrace Death, we live to DIE!

Yes you can use them, there is an FAQ about this that covers it.

Page 147 of the SM codex. The "Company Heroes" ability answers this question.

You might also want to read Page 147 of the SM codex. The "Company Heroes" ability might disagree with you.

I`m sorry for that false information. Should have checked that before posting.

1) Yes, as per the Rulebook FAQ.
2) No, they can be placed in different places and don’t need to be in coherency, just be set up at the same time.

1. As stated, the FAQ allows smoke to be used.

2. The Company Heroes rule says "they do not need to be set up in unit coherency."

How does this interact with transports then?

Deploying at the same time appears to rule out the possibility of either being embarked without the other being in the same transport.

Now that is an interesting thought. Never thought of it since I only use one of them.
