Looks nice! I've been using Gunfexes with Acid Maws...you lose +1 BS but gain some extra close combat options.

Looks very shooty only thing I would consider is swapping ymgarl factor for the miasma cannon for more nastiness. Always wounding on 2s (excluding vehicles)and that 3 damage can really ruin people’s days

I love and hate heavy venom cannons at the same time. The guns themselves are amazing, the platforms they stand on cost too much for a " stand back an shoot" approach. I also hate the stupid limitation of only one gun per monster. I don't want to pay 160 pts on a platform just to hold one long range cannon. What's the point of this?

For this reason I prefer the simple venom cannons, which do kind of the same thing for a much lower points cost on tyranid warriors, with a lot of extra wounds and lots of very cheap heavy bolters sprinkled in there for fun. Now if the tyranid prime was costed appropriately, I could see myself never leaving home without 15-18 warriors.

I get what you're saying about the Heavy Venom Cannon one gun per monster rule but, since the Tyrant has complete crap close combat without actually giving him a weapon I am giving in to this rule as it allows me to not feel like I'm splitting him up too much since I couldn't even give them 2 Venom cannons each.
The Fexes being less mobile I dont need them to be as close combat focused so I'm adding some Deathspitter for 24" guns on most.

Remember that the Tyrants are not "just" a platform for the Venom Cannon, its a very tough platform (for its cost) which can shoot, fight and cast 2 spells per turn + large Synapse.

Regular Venom Cannons are nice too but certainly don't do the same kind of damage as the heavy versions, even 3 Venom Cannons supported by Prime for better hitting you're still comming up shorter than a single Heavy Venom Cannon (due to lower strength) and your running a tab of about 400pts for that which is twice as expensive as Flyrant and 3 times more then Fexes.
