I'm planning on doing a big tau project over the summer, basically starting from scratch. I'm slowly buying up the bits and pieces needed. Something I really want to do is have the infantry and the suits carrying sashimonos, the little back flags worn by Japanese soldiers, because let's face it, tau are basically gundam.
I'm thinking larger ones for sergeants and suits and slightly smaller ones for fire warriors (obviously none for pathfinders and stealth suits). Given it's
sa'cea I figured orange would be a good colour.
Here's where the problems kick in. Even if I buy up every old tau transfer sheet I can, you need two to do three guys' sashimonos. That's a lot of transfer sheets for an army with at least 60 fire warriors.
I'm thinking maybe just have the larger sept symbol transfers on the sergeants, and have these blue ring symbols from perry miniatures on the basic guys and give the suits two banners, one with
sa'cea, one with the blue ring, and claim the blue ring is a personal symbol of the commander, that might work.
Please advise.
(I was originally going to try putting samurai helmets on but I only have so much money and between the units, resin bases and the flags, it was just too much.)
