I'm headed to a tournament in a few weeks that is running the NOVA rule set and coincidentally the missus is tentatively letting me go to the NOVA Open. I plan to bring my camera and hopefully record my games. These lists are limited to what I can paint in time.

Results are non-binding.

A note about NOVA...they have standard terrain placement and it is pre-defined by the tournament. Below is an example. This means there will be plenty of ruins to hide my Rubrics for up to 1+ armor saves.

Option #1

Spoiler:

I bought the negative outlook on Magnus when the book came out, but realistically most lists do NOT take enough weapons to remove him turn 1. Even 7 Hive Tyrants somehow dropping within range of him get him to just half. If they have enough LC to take him down turn 1 then they also have enough LC to take out roughly 3 Predators and there's little I can do about that with any list other than straight infantry.

Spells
Magnus - Glamour, Weaver, Temporal, Boon of Change (optionally: drop Boon and make someone else the WL)
DP - Gaze of Fate, Diabolic
Ahriman - Firestorm, Warptime, Prescience
Rubric #1 - Firestorm //Backup for when Ahriman smites
Rubric #2 - Firestorm
Scarab - Temporal //Backup heal when Magnus needs to smite
Shaman - Doombolt or w/e

Strategy
Deploy Magnus last (with a cultist buffer). Place him in a corner to minimize the number of guns that can target him. Survive the round and get -1 to hit, +1 invuln, and heal on. Gamble for +1T with Boon. He is now a massive distraction and hopefully lasts 3 rounds soaking up as much as possible when the rest of the army does their thing.

Major Concerns
I'm slightly worried people may react to the tyrants and bring extra big guns, which puts Magnus in more jeopardy.

Option #2

Spoiler:

Spells
TA Sorc - Prescience, Glamour
Rubric - Weaver
Scarab - Warptime
Ahriman - Temporal, Firestorm, Diabolic/Death Hex w/e
Shaman - Doombolt or w/e

Strategy
Blob of rubrics drops in with Abaddon, SoT, and TA Sorc. Array the sorcerers to be w/i 6" of each other. Get prescience, glamour, and possibly weaver on Rubrics - use CF&Familiar to force one through (probably glamour). Shoot with VotLW on. Ahriman supports and heals the back field. Scarabs shoot something and warp time to get stuck in. Abaddon will keep Rubrics from fleeing and is great melee support.

Option #3

Spoiler:

Spells
All of them!

Strategy
A ton of CP and a some target saturation. Ignore the helbrute and vindicator at your peril. Multiple units of rubrics helps me get through straggling spells and get CF to my big casters. Pump stratagems like it's no tomorrow. Spells to keep vehicles efficient.

Really, i would go for option 1 but take two blobs of 30 tzaangors. These guys really hurt and 60 of them ties up the entire army for 1 turn.

I like tzaangors. They just arent so good to warrant making such a large investment and don't worry me as I have been able to kill them quite easily.

E.g. The tzaangors will hit the cultist screen. Everything else is 4.1 inches behind the screen removing the option of charging them and the fight twice stratagem.

First I death hex and use CF if I'm worried about casting it. Then the contemptor hits on 97% and wounds on 66% if they're under 24 inches away. I'll always CP to get two kills. Then they take 4D6 S6 hits, which on average kills 7 or 8 more. Add to that 3.5 from soulreapers, and 10 from 16 rf bolters. That leaves 7 in one unit, which morale can handle. The other unit is then subject to all my other smites, firestorm, magnus, and SoT.

Every time I face a bl or tzaangor bomb I get away with only losing cultists and a few other infantry.
