Hi again guys,
A while back I posted an Imperial Guard starter list and got some great feedback. I originally wanted to play a Steel Legion list with lots of flyers, but was convinced that this play style didn't really suit the SL. Chimeras are awesome too and I'm in the processes of building that army. However, I still want to build an army around airplanes! In my last thread I got the suggestion that Scions were more suitable to what I wanted to do, and after looking at them, I think that's absolutely correct. So here's what I was thinking as a main army:
Battalion Detatchment
HQ:
tempestor prime w/ command rod
tempestor prime
tempestor prime
Troops
10x scions with 4 plasma guns
10x scions with 4 plasma guns
10x scions with 4 plasma guns
Elites
command squad with 4 plasma guns
command squad with 4 plasma guns
command squad with 4 plasma guns
officer of the fleet with dagger of tu'sakh
Transport
taurox prime with gatling cannon
taurox prime with gatling cannon
taurox prime with gatling cannon
Air Wing Detatchment
valkyrie with rocket pods
vulture gunship with twin gatling cannons
vulture gunship with twin gatling cannons
vulture gunship with twin gatling cannons
vulture gunship with twin gatling cannons
total:1999 points
the goal is for the Officer of the Fleet to deepstrike close to an enemy target to allow the flyers to reroll 1s to hit, and would ideally repeat every turn that he's still alive. 2 command squads and the tempestor with the command rod start off in the valkyrie to be dropped close enough to get into rapid fire range on turn 1. All other infantry units deep strike in.
I ran out of points, which is why only one HQ has a command rod... This list has a fairly obvious achilles heel, which is that it can be tabled perhaps fairly easily by ignoring the flyers. To compensate I took the tauroxes which should also do no small amount of damage with their guns. More so than a more typical scion list, I'll be relying on a hard alpha strike. But the all-or-nothing style is definitely appealing!
I'm super excited about this army, and hope to hear your feedback once again!
