Anyone else really disappointing in this novel. It was more of a dark eldar novel than a space wolves one. Completely biased towards the dark eldar the chapters with Traevelliath were always far longer than the chapters with Lukas, to the point that it was actually comical how long the DE chapters were in comparison. He actually said a Space wolf is not threat or match to a Kabalite warrior, shockingly biased, and completely false and disingenuous, just lying in fact to make his army sound cool... It was a good book apart from that, the parts with Lukas were hilarious, but I was left disappointed with it because of the focus on the dark eldar. I won't read any books from that guy again.

Lukas was always doomed to lose that confrontation so you have to be careful how much you build the Trickster up before cutting him down.
I enjoyed it.
It told an interesting perception of the Wolves, especially Lukas seeing his brothers as animals on a leash made of alcohol and hero worship. It pointed out how the Space Wolves swing some of their biggest failings to look like victories.

I don't break the rules but I'll bend them as far as they'll go.

I really enjoyed the parts with Lukas in Ashes of Prospero. Is the book worth reading for Lukas parts or not?

I haven't read Ashes yet but Lukas is more broody than I imagined him to be. Somehow I imagined a comedian who loves taking the piss but it turns out Lukas is a clown who teaches through humour - ironic, dangerous and spiteful humour.

I don't break the rules but I'll bend them as far as they'll go.
