Hey guys,

I've got a growing AdMech army and some cash burning a hole in my pocket, but I'm looking for some advice on how to expand. I've been doing some research online, and it seems like you can't really go wrong, but any advice on developing a pretty strong army would be much appreciated.

I currently have;

Belisarius Cawl
2x Tech Priest Domini
1x Tech Priest Enginseer
20x Vanguard (1 unit of 10 with 3 plasma, 2 units of 5 with 1 arc rifle)
10x Rangers (1 stock, 1 with 2 arquebus and an omnispex)
3x Knight Armiger Warglaives.

I feel like this is a solid core, but where should I look to build from there? I'm looking to run Mars (I know )

Thanks guys!

Hi !

Well sadly there ARE ways to go wrong with AdMech currently. I'd suggest waiting for the Spring FAQ to drop but I'm not really hoping for big changes in the way AdMech works neither.

Sicarian Ruststalkers are terrible, they rely solely on 6s to wound to do their damage, and while you can get lucky and get their 16 attacks to hit and wound, if you don't roll any 6s you just miss on all their capabilities. Infiltrators are great, in both loadouts, the taser + flechette blaster being more popular for the anti-horde role it have, maths proves the tougher your target is (speaking of armour saves) the better the power sword loadout is.

Kataphrons are best used in the Destroyer variant in my opinion, as the Breachers are suffering from lack of punch in their weapons. The plasma Destroyers are really good as long as you don't shoot something that gives -1 to hit and can support your anti-tank nicely. The grav-cannons decimate heavy infantry. But their strong point is that when near Kastelan Robots you can give them both +1 to hit for a round with a stratagem.

If you want to play Mars you can safely buy yourself 4 Kastelan Robots and equip them with full phosphor blasters, these + Cawl are the staple of any competitive AdMech army and will be your anti-everything with the Wrath of Mars stratagem.

Onagers are really good too, but only with Neutron Lasers and Icarus Arrays. The first is devastating against big mean targets and the second will be the bane of any flying unit your opponent have (as long as it's under T7). Plus, they have cheap stubbers that are a must-take in my opinion.

Ironstrider Ballistarii are nice support platforms as long as you don't move them too much. Dragoons with taser lances are absolutely fantastic when manoeuvred correctly. They have a stratagem that allows them to hit on 2+ and proc 3 hits on any 4, 5 or 6s to hit. They're a threat that can rarely be ignored.

All in all it depends on your meta, and the type of games you play. Casual or competitive. But playing Mars you just MUST have Kastelan Robots.

Kastelans, Dunecrawlers, and Dragoons are the good units. Everything else ranges from mediocre to really, really bad.

Unfortunately, it's actually very easy to go wrong with Admech, and the paths to be right are actually quite narrow.
