Hi All,

This may have already been discussed here but I could find it explicitly stated anywhere. When discharging the serpent shield, if the nearest visible enemy unit is in combat do the mortal wounds affect that enemy unit? Or does it go on to hit the closest enemy unit not in combat? I imagine based on the wording that it acts more like smite than a shooting attack so it does not have to abide by the rules for declaring targets in the shooting phase. What is the consensus in the community?

"In addition, once per battle, in your Shooting phase, a Wave Serpent can discharge its serpent shield in its Shooting phase by rolling a D6. On a 2+ the nearest visible enemy unit within 24" suffers D3 mortal wounds."

You dont roll to hit, or to wound. Its not a shooting attack. Of course it affects that nearest enemy unit in CC.

Awesome! That is the way I played it last night but I wanted to check because it made a huge difference in our game swinging a combat in my favor with his warlord. Thanks for reassuring me
