Hello,
Besides Frontline and gamemat.eu, what are some other companies that make some good terrain for a decent price that will arrive tabletop ready? I am looking to already make a purchase from gamemat.

Wow, the rust sets made by impudent mortal are awesome.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks do not think that purple makes them harder to see. They do think that camouflage does however, without knowing why.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe. |

I've never seen anyone paint the stuff. I'd like to see what it looks like painted before I try to do so.

True, however depending on where you live their shipping is expensive, up to £50 for some of their bundles and even for some of the single kits it can be rather expensive to ship. (to the US at least)

I took some photos of my MDF terrain so you can get an idea how it looks painted. I didn't go too far because I was looking for speed over skilled painted terrain. Excuse the low quality of the photos.
Impudent Mortal warehouse. I just sprayed it in metal, then painted the brickwork and washed the whole thing with some mahogany colored regular varnish.
Impudent Mortal basic buildings. Got all 4 for cheap. The buildings are very basic but you can get them ready to play in an afternoon. I painted them using a textured outdoors paint spray and then regular wood varnish as above.
In my experience unless you are a mad fan of those gorgeous Infinity tables these buildings are very serviceable. The only difficulty is that you might want to seal the MDF with primer or some DIY spray paint before using regular paints on it because if not it will drink the paint like there was no tomorrow.

What i've always wanted to do is go down to a few cheap stores with about £50 and just buy a bunch of stuff from pet shops and £1 stores to see if I can make anything good out of everything.

Most of my board is from wargame model mods - great buildings with integrated LED options. Really worth a look.

Thanks, grouchoben; that looks pretty good. (I am in the UK so I don't want to be paying postage across the Atlantic...). When I feel rich I will go shopping there (not that they are expensive, I just have a cash crisis this month).

I can vouch for this - I got their Ingot Factory and it's pretty good (although I did try putting a couple of bits together wrong - always test fit before gluing!)

My favourite terrain is from 2009braggminiatures on UK eBay. Can't tell you how much I like it. Big bases, detailed paint job, LOS blocking. Fabulous.

Here's a slighly blurry pic of my last game at home... every terrain piece except the centre square thing is from this eBayer and I want more! Really want a tall centrepiece one
For the confused, my opponent is playing Drukhari. The Dreadnoughts and Nids are proxied Talos!

This would be entirely dependent on a couple of things:
1) To you, what is a "decent" price?
2) Do you like MDF or do you want something else?
3) What kind of theme do you want for your table?
4) What do you mean by pre-made?

I've not got any myself yet, but for basic vacuum-formed plastic scenery, www.amera.co.uk look fantastic. Not table-top ready, but if I remember rightly there's a link on their website to someone who builds and paints their stuff and re-sells it.
