Hey all,

I am starting an astra militarum army using all the Elysian's I just bought that are shortly going to be OOP forever except for crappy recasts...
I have decided to paint the fatigues with a camo colour scheme, matching the German SS Plane Tree Autumn scheme used in this video...

Was just wondering what colour for the carapace would best match the fatigues? Something contrasting like a catachan green, or perhaps a dark grey...
Would really appreciate your thoughts on what best matches/contrasts autumn camo without detracting too much from the camo but also popping to the eye.

Thanks

If you're going with a German derived camo then Feldgrau is always an option.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

I've painted a couple of SS soldiers in that pattern for Bolt Action and in my opinion grey is a good contrasting color more on historical grounds than anything else, so I'm going to suggest something different. Instead of going for a different color, why not get your contrast out of a different pattern? As in, use for instance a reddish brown like Tuskgor Fur which color-wise is in the same range as the camo colors but instead of little multi-colored dots, you get large, mono-color surfaces for contrast. Or perhaps use downsized tank camo patterns on the armor. I'm thinking two-tone to not overwhelm the model with different patterns, staying true to the idea of larger surfaces of the same color to contrast from the camo pattern on the clothes. I imagine dark grey/dark brown or dark yellow/red brown might look good.

A blue-grey would be great with it. Alternatively a pale brown would also be quite nice imo.

Thanks for your excellent feedback everyone.

Geifer I like your idea but I don’t want to have a second camouflage pattern on the carapace.

I think I will go for the feldgrau.

Would you all recommend the AK interactive set or the Vallejo set?

Thank you
