I know everyone thinks soup armies are point-and-click affairs and thus tacticas would be redundant, but given the dominance of mono-book armies at major events I'm not sure I believe that - and even if it is true, I think soup Tacticas would be a useful exercise in figuring out why a particular keyword soup is effective.

So, yeah. Anyone up for writing a soup Tactica for their favourite keyword? Has it been done before and I just haven't seen it?

What mono book forces have been dominating what major events?

Not much. He probably looks at tournament lists and see "blood angel" as faction without noticing that's like less than a dozen guys with bazillion cheap IG alongside.

About only mono faction that can be said to have dominate is tyranids.

I loathe losing access to stratagems .
But if you already have a daemon detachment and a death guard detachment a Nurgle detachment can be a good addition.

Similarly I would want a thousand sons detachment, but a tzeentch detachment is a good way of adding cheap troops and more sorcerors.

Cheers for confirming what I thought.

If you have a pure detachment of each faction, you have acess to the stratageums and you still have the trait benifit for that detachment.

3/10 snark.

Go to BoK and download a few of the top lists from the last few months (anything after Dec 2017). I see a lot of Tyranids, Chaos "soup" (1kS with Alpha/ Black Legion, i.e. armies you could've built easily with the 4th Ed Codex and an Imperial Armour book), a handful of Imperial soup armies and a lot of Ynnari. There's also a Tau Empire dude on there somehow.

Of those, Tyranids and Ynnari are by far the most common. Nids are a mono-book army, and everying in the Ynnari armies aside from the Warlord comes from Codex: Craftworlds.
