ok seriously, I have tried the Games Workshop model glue (failed), the GW model glue WITH accelerator (failed), Gorilla Glue (failed), Gorilla Glue with accelerator (failed), got the hair dryer low wind, high heat setting involved (failed), tried props and pins (failed) so how in the name of the Emperor does a person get these f*&%#!@ models to bond to the flight stands?!

Do you want the honest answer? Skip it and use some brass/copper piping from a hobby store. Just drill a small hole to fit the rod and paint it black. Skip the nonsense.

Pinning (paperclip steel) and superglue (Loctite gel) worked for me.

The honest answer is much appreciated. I'll give this a try before I end up melting them together with a soldering tip

I was skeptical of the people who were all saying the stands were useless before they’d tried them. They must work or GW wouldn’t sell them, right?

Well after trying myself I am in agreement. Brass rods all the way! I could get about half to stick firmly(ish). The rest wouldn’t no matter what I did. The problem is once you don’t get a firm bond first time you are putting glue on top of glue which gives less direct contact.

I sank a pin into the stands of mine, and then drilled a slightly looser hole on the Inceptor so I could remove the stand for transport.

The problem is the bond between clear acrylic and the plastic - solvent glues will not work as it will not "fuse" the two different plastics together. Zap a gap type glue doesn't work because it creates poor bond to the clear acrylic.

Your best non-pinning bet is a epoxy based glue - this will create a bond between the plastic-to-glue and glue-to-clear acrylic (it will act as a bridging material so to say), as opposed to plastic-to-clear acrylic bond.

Alternatively, if you don't mind a opaque ball tip, wrap a thin layer of modelling putty of any type at the ball tip of the flying stem - this will help create a better surface for solvent type glue to work with.

I found my problem was that the flight stand was plastic (works best with plastic bonding glue) but I had painted the miniature (acrylic, despite being plastic, is not a good medium for this). I stripped a small piece of paint and used a very small amount of green stuff to keep things in place while my Zap-A-Gap dried over 45 minutes. They've kept now for months and I'm actually afraid to replace them given the hell of the original install.

To offer another perspective, I just used regular GW plastic glue for my Inceptor stands and it bonded without much issue. Holding it in the right place was fiddly and frustrating, to be sure, but not particularly difficult compared to some other, more egregious plastic joins in my experience; and the glue set in the normal amount of time for me.

As well, so far I've only had to reattach them after drops and knocks that would have broken off regular flying stands in any case, so I haven't found them to be especially fragile either.

All that said, these are by far the worst flying stands they've made so far. Hoping they move more towards those sweet ball joint stands they gave the new Aeldari jetbikes.

Likewise, I just used the same Army Painter plastic glue I use for normal plastic models and left them in position overnight braced in place by some paint bottles. They bonded fine and have held since.

Drill a hole in the jetpack, where you would glue the acrylic piece. Apply plastic glue in the hole and on that acrylic piece, stick it all the way in and wait. It will never fall off again. GWs method is ridiculous. The contact area is way to small. It simply cannot support the weight of the model.
