1. What are your credentials/experience (ie GT wins)?
2. Are you going to actually post any content here, or just use Dakka members for clicks?
|
Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment. |

I like free content so no complaints here. Good luck with the tournament. I note that you don’t take Coldstars which are commonly regarded as one of the best T’au units. I am guessing that is due to not having units in the midfield to support coldstars?
Also speaking of midfield units a quick search shows up a lot of players taking Ghostkeels in the tournament. What do you think of them if you have tried them?

Thank you.
I playtested some Fusion coldstars and they simply became one hit wonders. They would move into a position to kill something, kill it (70% of the time) then die. I didn't like the 1 hit wonders of the coldstar but don't condone using them and they certainly are great, but don't work in a type of list which has a strong backfield presence.
Point for point, ghostkeels do very little but sit on objectives for one turn before they are assaulted and killed. They dont have the range to sit at the backfield with your gunline, nor do they have the survivability to press forwards. Riptides fulfil the roles well by having both enough firepower and last long enough to jump around the board.

Cheers, it is interesting to see the logic behind picks at a tournament level. I noticed frontline gaming hosted an article from a UK T’au play who was playing a list with a strong backfield and that some USA based players/posters were wondering where the 3 commanders/coldstars were and the mobility.
I recently saw a list from one of the higher ranked USA T’au players Paul McKelvey (sp?) and it was very suit based/aggressive.
Anyways it will be interesting to see how T’au hold up.

Yes the UK scene tends to have a slightly different (if not ahead of the meta) look at the game. The commanders tend to be the obvious choice to fall into and don't get me wrong, it's a solid choice but I have gone for an approach to the style I used to play Tau throughout 6-7th edition.
Yes the great thing about Tau is they can play very different. Although I was not happy with the codex upon release as they have gotten rid of a lot of the flavour and the cost of their signiture unit (crisis suits) are rediculous, we still have options. Ill be posting a Tactical overview of the Tau codex when I have the time soon.

Trust me, no matter what damage they have the potential to do, single-shot weapons always flatter to deceive in 40k. Rule #1 - BBAP
