Can Imperial Fleet destroy planet like death star without exterminatus weapons(use weapon to spacebattles only)? Recently, I participated in a discussion in which my opponent argued that it was possible. He cited the Astartes fleet as an example. However, I played in BFG and I know that the Astartes fleet can split the continent, but I doubt that it would have coped with the planet's mantle, or somehow would damage the core. Therefore, I would like to ask you this

Only abandons planet killer could destroy totally.
The imperium can kill the surface but not do anything more than surface damage.

No?
I believe the multistage cyclonic torpedoes use for exterminatus can, but I don't think conventional lances or macrobatteries can.

Guardsmen, hear me! Cadia may lie in ruin, but her proud people do not! For each brother and sister who gave their lives to Him as martyrs, we will reap a vengeance fiftyfold! Cadia may be no more, but will never be forgotten; our foes shall tremble in fear at the name, for their doom shall come from the barrels of Cadian guns, fired by Cadian hands! Forward, for vengeance and retribution, in His name and the names of our fallen comrades! |

I don't see why not if given a long enough time and enough guns to bombard the planet with.
Just not very practical.

No, that's why they have exterminatus weapons. If the fleet's ordinary weapons could destroy a planet there would be no need for specialized planet-destroying weapons.
Now, the fleet's conventional guns can certainly wreck stuff on the surface, cause massive casualties, etc. Given sufficient bombardment time they could probably destroy everything on the surface to the point that you'd call it "dead". But that's very far from death star level, where the planet is blown apart into a cloud of dust.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices. |

The Imperial fleet. What all of it? Even getting it all in one place would be a logistical triumph! Assuming you mean just a bit of it? Firepower no unless there is a lot of it from lots of ships, but otherwise accelerate a battleship or battlebarge to full speed and ram a faultline.
